Feels like or sounds like they're all clicking? Mine sometimes makes a light, intermittent clicking when pulling away in 1st, I presume the drivetrain has has some play in it (possibly propshaft UJ?), and/or the diff may be moving a bit (the diff bushes are a b*tch to do though, apparently!)
Just my thoughts, never (in my short'ish experience of Starions) heard of this problem before, sorry!
Ash

DIFF BUSHES

January 8 2009, 9:15 PM

James, your car sounds like its suffering from "ripped" diff bushes mate. a common problem caused by the twisting action of the diff against these rubber bushes. jack the rear of the car up on the chassis to allow the weight of the rear suspension to drop, look above the diff. you will see 2 rubber blocks that are supposed to be connected between the diff & the body. iff there is a gap, then they need replacing. its a b*stard job tho as I have lost the skin on my knuckles many times doing this.
Regards,
Mark.

On FWD drive cars, clicking when turning sharply is the sign of worn CV joints on your driveshafts.
I'd be tempted to say it DOES have something to do with your differential or inner CV joints, as it is the only thing on your car that is affected from steering. Have you had this on a rolling road recently or on axle stands?
