my oil pressure gauge is reading on the red when i drive. i have recently had my engine rebuilt. could this be a blocked oil filter or dirty sender? when i drive in 2nd gear the oil pressure reads half way? any ideas??
the engine rebuild was 1300 miles ago.
cheers james

Hi James, did your car have a full rebuild or just a head off have a look rebuild? im slightly worried to read that you feel it would be a blocked oil filter?! wasnt it changed on the rebuild do you know? what type of oil was used upon completion? Sorry to be blunt please dont take offence i just see too many of these engines just botched together and called a rebuild. did it have good oil pressure when you first got it back on the road and has it gradually got worse? or has it been like that from the start? Regards Rob

hi rob. long story... i had a full engine rebuild. 86mm wossner forged pistons and 21mm conrods. lightened and balanced crank. the new engine lasted 1100 miles before blowing a hole through number 3 and melting the piston. i have put this down to a dodgy bore. the car was just sitting not started for 5 years. it has been sleeved and a new piston put in. i changed the oil when i got it back because it was not making that much oil pressure while under normal driving conditions. it was better with the recommended oil from halfords. but now when it gets hot, unless i give it some, runs on the red line???? i am gonna take the oil pressure sender off this morning and clean it out then drill the hole slightly bigger ( recommended by starquest site. ) and change the oil filter. i have also got an oil leak from some where near the oil pump/filter???? it leaves little 4cm pools of oils after being driven??? the company who did the work are gonna get a stern word this morning too!!! COWBOYS!!! i won't name them
