Hi Marc it all depends on how much power you want and much money you have.
I've got a 2.6 and trying to get as much out of (her) as possible and now I wished I never started it's costing me a fortune and most mechanics don't
have a clue about these cars.
Things you need to do first.
Cut holes in air box large as possible and put in a K&N filter.
Change exhaust to 2.5" (do it in stainless steel)last for ever.
Change your flywheel to a 2.6 get a Fidanza it only weighs about 10lbs made from aluminium and s/s look on ebay.com and a perfomance clutch try Top-End performance from the states (go to downloads then tuning ideas on the forum)
Make sure the the car is running perfect no miss fires, not over heating, your fuel and oil pressures are ok, all leads, sparks, distributor cap and rotor are new.
From here the big bucks start.
T3/T4 turbo you need an adaptor plate.
Change the so called fuel injection system to a multi-point which means you will need a new management system.
More power means heat, change rad to a three row made from aluminium.
Larger intercooler.
Engine; forged pistons, con rods, racing cam etc.I had my pistons and valves ceramic coated to protect them from the heat.
Hope this gives you an idea what to do.
It's all down to money and what power you want. I'm going for garret GT35 with ceramic ball bearings which help the turbo spool up faster with external wastegate which should give me about 500bhp.
I'm not an expert on turbos but this what i've been told.
It's down do what size you want (what you are using the car for)
Small gives quick spool up and almost no lag but die off at about 4500rpm great for racing off lights.
Medium great for street race bit more lag and should make power to 5500rpm best allrounder.
Large even more lag and makes power to 6500rpm ultimate performace great for drag racing. Cost it depends on what size, I've been quoted by Turbo Technics £900 for the large. Go on their website for more or better info.

hi mate 1st thing make sure engine is all ok no point putting more bhp if engine cant take it give it a good service ie oil filters plugs leads etc next is exhaust and air filter if u got a standard exhaust change it get your self a powerflow exhaust from turbo back get the powerflow to give you a nice sweeping elbow from exhaust back but if you intend to get a new exhaust might be wort while fitting a garrett t3 turbo onto it or a t34 all you need is a new oil line anadaptor made up to bolt turbo onto exhaust manifold and then obviously mister power flow to make downpipe off turbo after that as sav said drill some holes into filter box and shop around for a k&N filter then obviously a boost controller whether its a manual 1 or electronic its your preference im not too sure where boost cut is nowadays i think its 12psi but defo get a boost gauge so you know exactly what its boosting too doing all that should see it up to around 220 bhp or a bit more the next stage after that is a fcd fuel cut defender stops the boost cut and then something to control the fuel whether its a safc or a piggy back like a greddy emanage ultimate or if u got more money than that then astandalone ecu this should see you safely into 300bhp+ and knowing engine aint going to knacker up cause u turned boost up to max and blew bottom end cause mixture was wrong and timing if eventually you want more power this is where the big money is its a full rebuild on engine forged pistons balanced bottom end ported head and a multi point injection system and standalone ecu with this you will see over 400bhp hope this gives u an idea
i was more thinking blue brint bottom end lightend 2.6 fly wheel and clutch k&n dump valve biger inter cooler o512 turbo biger ingectors high lift cam if i can get one let me know if im wrong cheers marc
youll be lucky to find a 2.0 hilift cam quite rare you will still neeed something to control fuel otherwise no matter how well u build bottom end without correct fuel mixture you will blow the bottom end up ie pistons
