Hi all,
My rear arches are starting to go so went to mitsi and asked about them.
I was surprised they come back with a price of £166.86+ VAT but you could only get the offside which I think its a bit daft, last time I asked they were about £700 a side.

Savie, did you price the inner wheelarch panels as well? Im in the same boat, the nearside is worse than the offside... Mitsi are definitely dropping prices on these parts, buy now while stocks last..

Hi Graham,
I did, £85.26 + VAT but don't if they are available. The only part that I know that is, is the offside quater. You'll need to ring them mate. I did ask mitsi in Northampton to try and find who used to make the body panels so maybe (tall order) be able to order direct. Probably 80% of starions have the same problems now worldwide, why they have stopped making them only god knows. If any of you need any body parts get them now or you'll be running around trying to find someone to make them and you'll end up with a crap job like my man did and he came recommended.

Savie.

My thoughts exactly Savie, even though my good car doesnt really need a body restoration now, it will do in the future. Hence ive being buying up front wings, side skirt panels etc. Its the body stuff will be the problem area in the future (and now!)

Hi Bill, do you have a rough guide how much they will cost. Will they be full wing or just from the coach line down. I think coach line down. The only reason i've gone to mitsi is that I know I'll get that perfect fit and shape. Where are they getting the shape from etc. The last thing I want is to get a set cut mine off and then finding that they don't fit and paying some else to modify them.

My RX7 panel was £30. This is slightly more work and larger panel so dont have a price yet. Profile and sizes were taken off standard 2.6 car.

Have you had yours done then? Do they do all the work then including fitting?
Where about are you?

Savie.

They only make the panels, You have to weld them in yourself.

Yes I thought they may be popular. I am planning on fitting then posting a photo to see if there is enough interest to get a batch made up. I dont have a price yet as the parts are still being made up. I expect it to be expensive but a run of 10-20 would bring the price down.

will keep you posted

Bill

dont suppose you have a vented bonnet for sale?

Bill, how much of the quarter panel will these repair panels incorporate? I presume from the coachline down, but will it go all the way down to the seams on both sides of the wheelarch? I have two cars of my own so thats potentially two pairs of panels! Cheers Graham

Hi Bill,
You need to see the bigger picture here. Mitsi have stopped making parts for these cars so you have a great opportunity if these guys get it right to make some money. Dont just think of the handful of cars in the uk think bigger worldwide. I've owned starion's for 15 years and search the net nearly everyday for aftermarket parts with not much success. I'm probably speaking on behalf of all the starion owners that if you have them made that we would all buy them whether we need them or not due to that they are prone to rust mainly the rear quarters. We are passionate about these cars and the last thing we want to see on our pride and joy is rust. If I was in your position and had the time and money I wouldn't hesitate. Go for it mate.
As I said before I will have a set so put my name down.

Savie.

Bill how much do you class as expensive?? are you talking £100 or £500 I need both sides for my 88 Widebody and will make my own if I have too but buying something would be a lot easier! It would need to include the area at the bottom behind the wheel arch as on mine this is the ugly bit.

Cheers Paul

Rear Quarters

June 23 2009, 3:58 PM

Hi,

I Can say that i would definetely put my name down for a pair, and agree that many many people internationally would.
Was suprised to find no-one in Oz had already done it due to the number of Starions over there. But then got reminded of the slightly different climate over there?!

My 88 2.0 EX WB is suffering the same arch problem sad.gif
Just paid £700 to get the sills welded for the MOT and looking at the rust bubbles on my rear quarters don't fancy forking out more than that in a year or two again?!

I hope someone gets some made up soon!!

Keith
