Response to The Big Question Is 'Long Range Acuracy Or Firepower' |

However both rifles are extremely accurate and will reach out a long way with killing power. I prefer the M-1 for the same reason as you. The M-1 was certainly as accurate as the 03, but because of the fact that it was semi-automatic, and had an eight round clip vice a five round clip for the 03, more aimed shots could be delivered by the M-1 with extreme accuracy. I know that the M-1 was fired over a known distance of more than 600 yards and scored in the black. I'm not completely sure how much lighter the 03 was over the M-1 but we had no difficulty carrying it over long distances.
Unlike the BAR the M-1 didnt start out heavy and then seem to gain a pound per mile trudged with it. I always preferred the M-1 even after the M-14 came out, but I think that might have been due to having lived with the M-1 for so long. I managed to be a consistant expert with both weapons, usually shooting in the high 230s and an occasional 240 (out of a possible 500)
