...on TV (presumably the History Channel) this past weekend. I missed it, but the editor of the journal I work on watched it and was telling me about it. His father was a Seabee in the South Pacific during WWII, in a unit that made landings with the Marines on various islands. He said his father had no great love of military life (having been drafted) and despised MacArthur, but that he never uttered an unkind word about the Marine Corps or any Marine he had ever met, which--he said--could be construed as high praise if you knew his father.
