I venture into the District only when I'm absolutely forced to (and the association I work for is having its annual scientific meeting & exposition at the Convention Center in June, so this will be one of those times). I don't think I've ever driven into DC that I haven't gotten lost and wasted at least an hour driving in circles or all over the city trying to find my bearings. I've learned to leave my car parked at one of the Metro stations in Virginia (parking is free on weekends) and take the Metro into town--much more convenient and stress-free. Love to take in the museums and try to let a little culture rub off on me. I think the last time I was in DC was a couple of years ago when Patrick Hayes (Chopper Gunner) and others were in town and a bunch of us old coots rendezvoused at The Wall to pay respect to fallen comrades.
