I'm not sure I got logged in correctly--we'll see how this shows up.
Most of your names are familiar to me, since I used to see them while reading TheFew.com and TheFew,The Proud message boards. Thanks to Laamie for steering me here. I'd wondered what happened to Momz, MillRat, JITB, & Nomad. Since I already sort of "know" some of you, here's some info about me:
Mary Rains, proud mother of former Marine Sgt Mike (05/95-05/99). I loved the positive changes I saw in him even right out of boot camp: confident, capable, posture, bearing, manners, & beautiful smile. I thank the Marine Corps for helping to make him the fine young man he is today. His MOS was 2531 (field radio operator), & his duty station was MCBH Kaneohe Bay HI, with two deployments to Camp Hansen on Okinawa. The Marine message boards I found helped me understand some of the lingo he used & some of what he was doing. I still send him some of the "grunt" & "winger" stories I find, since he worked with the "grunts" and now has a former Marine "winger" roommate.
My nephew, Jesse, is presently a lance corporal (MOS 2841/2867) stationed at Camp Lejeune NC.
I'm looking forward to reading your posts on this website, & maybe even contributing now and then. Thanks again for the warm welcome.
