Today is the day! Yes, I know the CPX does not
start until tomorrow. But today the MillRat comes
to the Valley.
So later today Capt. John and myself shall trek
on down and retrieve the lad. Then it's back to
the Casa Nomad for some chunks of dead cow burnt
above the fire. Of course that includes taters for
goodness sake. Maybe a few ears of fresh corn, still
in there shucks, will be roasted whilst the other
items are getting heated to perfection. That corn
is just absolutely divine with just a tad bit of
butter and nothing else. Good ole fresh country
corn, from local fields BTW, when roasted is just
downright delicious. If you haven't tried ear corn
that way, betcha if you try it once you'll go back to
it time and time again. OBTW, even field corn is
tasty when cooked that way. You just have to put
that butter on them.
Gettin a bit giddy, just like a kid goin to the
fair. Naw, not all them butterflies and such, just
kinda giddy. Heck, it's a big kick to meet just one
person coming to the Valley, and here we're gonna have
a whole flippin bus load! That's a big bus to BTW.
Ah yes folks, tomorrow the clan forms. Day after we
get to begin reliving the past and get the smell of
coordite once again. Maybe napalm if the have some
CAS planned. Don't know about that just yet. Them
city folks get twitchy when that happens, so it's a
slim chance. But the coordite just gets the juices
flowin good. Just another bunch of "Gun Nuts" playin
with the hated toys. hehe
We'll be think of you all that couldn't make it this
year. But plan ahead now and get out your maps. You
gotta plan on being at Camp Lejuene next year now.
Maybe in June if it can be arranged. Gets a wee bit
uncomfortable in that area in August. Again, we'll
try to accommodate the golfers if yall can get organized
and have enough to play. The planning folks can get
a course but honestly, there just isn't time to get
a group formed. Ya gotta do that yourselfs.
Sitrep(s) will follow when and if time permits.
