one of the ones I tried looking for a cheap flight to anywhere we could drive to Pendleton from!! Ended up getting a reasonable fare from Boston to Vegas via LAX (go figure!) and drove from there. When we stopped in 'Baker', on the way to Pendleton, the hottest town, 'they say' in CA (but it DOES have the tallest thermometer ... we saw it) it was 115 degrees, and there was a sign to Bakersfield, along with directions to Death Valley at the information center. On the way back, it was good we had a flight to catch .... hubby was 'all for going'!! Just give him an 'adventure' and he's off, but we would have missed our flight home!
