Sorry about not updating this a little bit more regularly but life has been a little hectic with getting trained as an Army Officer at the same time getting ready for deployment.
I graduated May 10th and was commissioned by a General Matthis. I'll tell the story about it at the end. I reported to Basic Officer Leadership Course II (compare it to MCT for Officers) in June and I'm now currently at Signal Officer Basic Course.
It is expected that I will "catch-up" with my unit during their deployment prep once I complete school.
Law school has been put off until I return from deployment but I am determined to go.
So commissioning story. Dressed in the Army Service Uniform (Class "A" Service) each of us are crossing the stage saluting the General and shaking hands etc. I come up and the General looks as I salute and give the greeting of the day and responds back "Semper Fi, Marine." My LTC that was the ROTC instructor for the year basically gives me the Stink Eye as I respond back in the only way a Marine knows how. "Semper Fi, Sir."
So if there was ever a question to where my loyalty lies and if I still am authorized my title as Marine.. I think the General answered that one.
Otherwise everything is going fine out here in Ga. (if anyone has contact information for Appleeater, I would love to get intouch with him if he is still with us.)
