I'm at a meeting of hospice nurses and last night we had a dinner in a private room at the hotel. The night was getting long and as we were winding down, the waitress interruped us. She said something like "I'm sorry I was eavesdropping about what you all do but..." and then went on to thank us for our work and to say how much it meant and still means to her family to have hospice care available as it was when her father was dying. At the conclusion of her short speech, I moved that we end our discussion as there was nothing more to say that could be better than her endorsement of our work.
In response to your post about the smile I would add simply, it's the little things that mean a lot! |
