When he studied under Lyndsay Kemp in the 'mime studio' he spent many hours practising walking against a very high wind. One day he noticed that across the corridor in 'actor's studio' the students there were often sprayed with a hose and the heating turned off in order to help them get into character. Recognising that this was terrific preparation for playing hypothermia victims or any role that required the character to be pale, lifeless and wooden, Bowie used the technique extensively.
