Tantalized
What foolish wiles
Has love indulged
What savage madness
What strange resolve
Diddling with trifles
In an empty skull
As the vain and witless
Brood and mull
Leaving heads bewildered
In a dismal lull
Where passions smolder
Dark and dull
As the scholars dazzle
In their somber halls
And drunkards stumble
Through empty malls
What foolish wiles
Has love indulged
What savage madness
What strange resolve

On the title 'Tantalized'
Tantalus, who through "hubris", overbearing pride or presumption, tried to feed the gods human flesh, is punished by being in a state of perpetual thirst and hunger, food and drink always just beyond his reach.
To tantalize is therefore to tease and tempt without satisfaction.
To tease or make frustrated, as by tormenting with the sight of something greatly desired but inaccessible.
To excite (another) by exposing something desirable while keeping it out of reach.
Hubris - an excess of ambition, pride, arrogance, etc., ultimately causing the transgressor's ruin
