As far as I can tell, only two songs have anything to do with the story of Nathan Adler, Ramona, Baby Grace, and Leon on the Bowie album, Outside: Heart's Filthy Lesson and I Have Not Been To Oxford Town.

The rest of the songs could belong on a collection like Never Let Me Down, songs that stand alone and are unrelated to each other.

For example, what does Spaceboy have to to with the story? Nothing. Except for the silly subtitles. This may be the "gag" Bowie refers to. The songs don't fit the story at all.

Can you prove me wrong?
