This goes to show that Bowie's still got an active Swedish fanbase, despite the fact that he's not been that generous gig-wise towards Sweden in recent years; the Hours and Heathen tours only played Denmark so the Swedes had to wait until 2003 - six years since two awesome Swedish Earthling festival gigs - before the Reality tour finally got to Stockholm.

Hopefully - if Bowie does visit the news section and finds out about this activity, that is - it should lead to him playing in Sweden more often than he's cared to do lately.

- What was it Bowie said about Sweden in the Reality EPK, again? Anyone?

'If I lived in Sweden, you'd know about it' or something like that. Very disrespectfully. I guess he meant that Sweden is a culturally dull country compared to NY. He could have chosen his words more carefully IMO. Political correctness, please. lol

BOWIE BAR

February 6 2006, 9:59 PM

Four occations that links Bowie to Sweden.

1. In an occational dream he sings" and we speak of a swedish room..."

2. In the song Quicksand he sings about "the twisted name on Garbo's eyes.." which referes to the actor "söderböna" Greta Gustafsson, also known as Greta Garbo.

3. In 1976 in Stockholm, at press conference, he announced a few strange coked up fascist remarks.´

4. In 1983, june 11 and 12, he played for 120 000 people in Gothenburg. Noone had had such a large audience in Swden before that.

5. in 1987 he played together with Iggy POp in Gothenburg. Iggy was the warm up.

6. Bowie Bar opens at KGB, Stockholm, Malmskillandsgatan 45, Wednesday the 8th of February. 8pm-02am.

Welcome

I never knew Herman's Hermits were popular in Sweden.

Hasn't shown up yet at Hollywood's Diamond Dogs club. Sadly. Maybe he's too old for that sort of thing anymore. I was too old for that sort of thing in my twenties.

Is it nice in your snowstorm?
