Here's a 7" single that I got a few days ago quite cheaply on eBay. I don't know much about it but going from the label, it looks like a radio station promo with the intro and outro times. There's a version mentioned on the IDBD, but it has a different catalogue number (RCA JH 10320), so I'm wondering if this is the uk version.
It's a US (it says 'made in the USA' on the label) radio promo with long and short versions of the track. These exist for most (if not all) of the US RCA singles, some titles had a long/short configuration, others mono/stereo.

Yes, I've got a rough idea but the thing that caught my attention was the catalogue numbers being different, JB 10320 on the label, and JH 10320 on the IDBD. That's what's making me think this is a uk promo, due to the different number from the US one.
I suppose what I'm really asking, is do UK and US (and other countries) use a different prefix, i.e JH = US, JB = UK and so on?
It wouldn't be UK as Lennon was still contracted to ATV music as his UK publisher until the end of 1975 I believe. Also there is some Spanish at the bottom of the label.
Yes, I think it's a Spanish one too. It says 'Registrada' at the bottom, but the Spanish issue of Fame according to Bassman is PB 10320. This promo disc also has this on the label.
It's not Spanish - it says 'made in USA' on the label, so it is a US pressing. I just checked and more of my US pressings have 'marcas registradas' on the front, I have no idea why.
I'm thinking not with that 'marcain registration' or whatever it is in the small print.
PB was usually promo I think as I have the 7" UK Sound and Vision single promo somewhere and it has that prefix. However that was released on RCA Victor. I dunno mate.
ok just a thought,i got my Rebel Rebel single on first day of release here in Uk and it has the same markings, made in USA and those Spanish words on the label.
Rebel Rebel - there are relatively few UK issues of the original 7". Most copies in UK shops were imported from the US, Germany and France. This is due to the oil shortage/industrial action of the period.
The same is certainly true of the Pin-Ups album. The UK original issue of Pin-Ups is really quite rare. Most UK sleeves have Canadian or French-made discs inside them.

I have both of those originals and the French label sounds sounds so much better than the Canadian one in my opinion. The two discs when held side by side have different looking vinyl.Where the French one is a darker black vinyl and the Canadian one is not and has less of a sheen to it.
...there was a mention that there was a vinyl shortage in the UK so many singles were pressed in the US and shipped into the UK (hence the Rebel Rebel story)...
Perhaps this single has the same story (ie a strange hybrid)
