*From The Lodger's Office*

Well now !

That was a quite enjoyable afternoon with the evergracious Tony Visconti.

And quite a few people turned up as well !

The basement of The Cornerstore was packed with a healthy crowd, waiting orderly in a very long queue to have their books and various memorabilia signed.

There was a good number of BWW'ers:
Sweety
Sunrise
Lucy
J73
Joern the Underdog
123Paul
APaulinsane
Paulinee
Baz !
BlueBlue
and Marcello, from Brazil.

Of course, it was a great shame that Michael and Alan couldn't make it, you boys had better be here next time

And I missed Jackie !

But it was such a cool afternoon anyway.

After the lengthy signing of all possible memorabilia, Tony had time for a Question and Answer session, which was fun, and he also allowed us to hear some extremely interesting rough working tracks from the Scary Monsters Sessions.
The first was "Because You're Young" , which most of us had heard on Vampires of Human Flesh- the boot,, but the second one was a version of "Scary Monsters" I am sure no one in the room had heard yet (except Sweety , perhaps )

"Scary Monsters"
"Too Many People"
"Too Many Teeth"

The lyrics went. Different intro as well !

Cool stuff.

and after that we headed upstairs and had a few drinks.

Pictures later!

Thank you very much to Sweety and Tony.

Did anyone ask any interesting Q&A questions? Like why has YA been delayed by two years? Are there any other 30th anniversary reisues in the pipeline? Has he ever put strings on anything?

the scary monsters demo sounded like late 70s early 80s guitar rock...a bit garage, bit rougher, more live & real...& slightly plodding (well, it was a demo) actually, for some reason, 'magazine' & bands of that time & ilk popped into my head on hearing this demo version...what i really did notice (in that brief listening session) was that the final version, as per the lp, really was made by fripp's anarchic, paranoid, stuttering, off-kilter genius guitar lines. ho-hum. just a thought, chums.

hi Ardent

February 13 2007, 1:13 AM

Nice to finally say hello.
We had a great, but wet couple of days in London.

Took a lot of pics and then managed to lose the camera
on the way back to the hotel.

So DO post some, please.

....about the Q & A, I got a bit caught of guard as Tony
asked me if I had a question.
I mananged to ask if he had any ambitions left as a bass-player, on
which he more or less said a smiling no.

I was surprised he was able to remember a name after hours
of signing and hundreds of people.

A very nice day in the prescence of a surprisingly nice
and forthcoming Mr.Visconti.

cheers

Joern

(too many teeth...phrase of the year, so far)
