NOW EDITED :

I reacted to this :

However I have been advised that the health bit refers to the number of seeders.

Phew!!

Re: **URGENT** enquiry : infected Bowie file on MWP???

A couple of years ago, I downloaded a video of Holy Holy. It played fine for about 30 seconds, then suddenly my screen began to fill up with pop ups for porn sites. The music still played but it was just 'bang bang bang'. All these websites appeared on my screen, at least 20.

So yes in my experience, video files can be used as trojans.

Agreed

it is possible I would think...however in this case I have received advice, and apparently the 'health' bit refers to number of seeders!

Still btjunkie should realise that newbies are going to a bit worried when they see a red marker against the 'health' bit!

Live and learn..

More likely to be malware or adaware, malicious Trojan Horse programs are used to circumvent protection systems in effect creating a vulnerable system to allow unauthorized access to the user's computer.

Porno pop-ups just entice the vulnerable.

I guess what you say is true Michael about downloading torrents.
But shirley, and please don't quote me, provided your security is up to date etc, and you scan files, it is reasonbly safe, but not totally, as with most things on net ??.

If Alan was here he would have some sound advice... wait's for Pab-Lo...

Thanks

It's ok, I've looked at the btjunkie site again.

Apart from the assuring advice I received, from a very knowledgeable source, the site does not have any virus warning against the show - it was the red bar against health that made me assume the worst.

It seems there is no warning on the file and I have resumed downloading it - apologies for worrying anyone who has the file.

I do wonder if I will be the last to misunderstand that red bar on btjunkie though!

Still there must be thousands of users and some must have put their views across about that, I guess they'd take it under consideration for any revamp.

Me? I just find the 'btjunkie' and syringe a bit much for my tastes, but humour boundaries do change over the years I guess...

TJN, I'm talking at least 5 years ago and I've always had a firewall and AV. It was before torrents, but whatever it was, it was encoded into the video file itself. Nothing happened until I played the video.
