Jacko Announces London Comeback Gigs

Michael Jackson is in the UK - and is set to announce his comeback at a live news event later this afternoon.

Jacko is due at the O2 Arena where he's expected to confirm a series of dates this summer.

It will be his first tour in 12 years and marks his return to the musical stage for the first time since his 2005 acquittal on child molestation charges.

Michael Jackson last visited London in 2006 for the World Music Awards, but he disappointed fans at that event by singing just a few lines of We Are The World.

Stories about his personal life, health and financial problems have dominated in recent years and the singer is selling many of the contents of his former Neverland ranch at auction in Los Angeles next month.

More news expected at 16.00hr GMT

Stay tuned happy.gif

he is a peado..full stop..thats my opinion and the opinion of most of the jury and the police department that dealt with the cases...just that the jury who cleared him,,had to clear him on the latest charges at the time..they also saw all the evidence of the first alligations from the case 10 years earlier were jackson paid over 26 million dollars to shut him up...
the jury made it clear, that if they had been judging him on the first case,,micheal jackson would have been found guilty of child abuse.....

micheal jackson and gary glitter the same..kiddy touches

'Final curtain call' for Jackson

Michael Jackson's series of 10 concerts at London's O2 arena in July will be "the final curtain call", he has told fans at the venue.

The singer, 50, confirmed the shows on stage at the Greenwich arena in front of hundreds of fans and the press.

He was introduced on stage by X Factor presenter Dermot O'Leary after clips of some of his earlier gigs were shown.

"This is it. I just want to say that these will be my final show performances in London."

His first words to fans were: "I love you so much."

He added: "This will be it. When I say this is it, it really means this is it.

Jackson said he would be performing his greatest hits

I'll be performing the songs my fans want to hear. This is the final curtain call

Michael Jackson

"I'll be performing the songs my fans want to hear.

"This is the final curtain call."

The first concert will be on 8 July with tickets going on sale on 13 March.

The singer, who had been due to appear at the O2 at 1600 GMT, was fashionably late for the announcement, only leaving his central London hotel at that time.

He eventually appeared on stage just after 1730 GMT after he and his entourage were stuck in traffic.

O'Leary had introduced Thursday's event as "the worst kept secret in the world".

Posters advertising the shows had already started to appear on Thursday morning on the London Underground.

He should make his nose fall off when he does the encore ;) .

March 5 2009, 7:59 PM

Or, he should even go one better and apply a darkening tanning lotion and transform himself (with a cute, original prosthetic nose) back into MJ the black man, as opposed to the white-washed, over-surgically-"enhanced" " " he is now..

Eh, let's hope he can still cut it live, right?

Don't f**kin' tell me how to respond to a thread. You can't take someone elses opinion about something...don't bother coming to a forum. We all have an opinion about something. Deal with it like an adult.

'PS/ Many things you like and post about that I do not like, but I don't go ranting like an idiot in your threads, respect please.'

You have EVERY right to voice your opinion about my threads. Go ahead. You ask for repect? You call me an idiot and ask for respect? You celebrate the people that fact that certain people are no longer on this board...yet you still act like this. Grow up. Im gonna respond to threads in any way i want. You do not make the rules. Again...i do not HATE Michael Jackson. Your acceptance of the freak is more disturbing and unhealthy. As someone else had noted, he really doesn't have that much talent. If not for the top notch production, he would have been another 'where are they now' artists.

Also...i don't care if much worse has been said avbout someone. You don't need to call me idiot or anything else. I have an opinion about something...you don't agree...and you resort to name calling. We can play that game if you REALLY want.

And the U.S. said "Michael who?"

March 6 2009, 9:54 PM

It's interesting to me the gap between how the UK and US press reacted.

Here in the States, Michael got a few seconds of airtime on CNN Headline News, but I haven't heard him "all over the radio." I guess Americans consider him a bit of a creepy has-been. Perhaps some of us would like to forget he exists.

Me, personally? I don't think he's put out anything that's captured America's collective imagination since 1987 ("Bad," maybe "Man In The Mirror") or 1991 ("Black or White") if you're being generous. It all kinda came crumbling down when the first abuse allegations (and Nirvana) drowned him out in 1992. He hasn't been the same since.

What's more, his albums sound terribly dated. Especially Bad. It's unfortunate, because there are moments on Thriller ("Billie Jean," "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin',") and Off The Wall ("Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough") that still excite.

I don't consider him a genius. He's a terrific performer who had a great run (1979-1984), but he's never cut it without Quincy Jones.

I think the reason he is getting more airtime here in London is because that's where the concerts are, so the local radio stations are promoting him and hyping up the inevitable free ticket giveaways. There's a bit of nostalgia attached to it too, he hasn't had any success in England for 13 years.

Sorry but he is a hack! He yelps and sings with treacle vibrato.... Quincy Jones was the man behind the curtain. FULL STOP! And what proves it is that Wacko hasn't done a thing since his work with Quincy, of any substance.
In my opinion one of the most over rated singers/performers in modern history. He dances well though.

I noticed that on one of the news programs that was running the story , the female presenter looked really happy about Jacko's return , I just wonder if she'd have been smiling quite so giddy had it been the double G ?

I know a lot is made about Jacko's transformation from a Black guy to a white guy , but hes always said it was a disease that made his skin lighten naturally , whats andyrushworth going on about I hear you say ? well its just occured to me that when he said it was a disease that had caused his skin to lighten , nobody believed him ! perhaps we were all wrong , and he really was telling the truth , now I'd say this , that if there is sombody out there who assisted him in the skin lightening cenario , then perhaps that person could have stepped out and said that Jacko cant be beleived when it mattered i.e. the child mollesting charges ! but nobody did so perhaps Jacko's a victim and been upfront and honest all along ?

Some writer in one of the papers , not sure which one [ she was quoted on the Jeremy Vine show ] said she didnt think he was Gary Glitter ? I wonder what she meant , as far as I'm aware with Glitter it was girls , wheras with Jacko it was boys !
Double standards , it drives me fuckin mad !

What I am trying to say is that I don't care about his personal life, the accusations, the sensational stories, the weird behavior. I just think he sucks! No quibbling there. The man is a hack, and was a manufactured pop idol. I could care less if he plays at O2, and think anyone who ends up shelling out their savings to see this fifty year old hack try to moon walk and sing Billie Jean, well they get what they paid for. Manufactured catchy, yet empty music. Don't expect much love for Jackson's type of music on a Bowie fan site.

Yeah Elvis was so overrated that he inspired virtually every major 60's rock star. Helped the transition from Black rock to white rock. Challenged the status quo. Had an amazing voice with incredible range and emotion. Incredible charisma and stage presence. Yeah, totally overrated. No way you can compare Jacko with Elvis. Ridiculous.

As for comparisons between artists ? we all do it and I'd guess its pretty futile , in other words we very rarely chane our minds about who we like !

As for white lies about plastic surgery , has Bowie ever denied having his teeth done ?

I mean , fucking hell if you think that Jacko has been telling little white lies ? personnaly I'd call them blatant beyond belief mother fucking whoppers !

350,000 register for Jacko concerts

March 8 2009, 12:30 PM

Around 350,000 people have registered for the chance to buy tickets to Michael Jackson's London concerts, the promoters have said.

The singer has said he will do 10 concerts at the 20,000 capacity O2 Arena in Greenwich, south London.

With more people registering than the venue can hold, some fans are bound to miss out but promoters say they will be first on the list if more gigs are announced.

Fans who get through the registration process will be sent an email on Tuesday with a code allowing them to log on to a website to buy tickets.

Reports have suggested that Jackson will put on more shows despite proclaiming the O2 shows would be his London curtain call.

A spokeswoman for promoter AEG Live said: "Nothing has been confirmed yet but those people who miss out this time will be the first to hear if there are any announcements."

Sunday night will see the hype surrounding the concerts continue as the entire advert break during Dancing On Ice on ITV1 is devoted to Jackson.

A three-and-a-half minute video showcasing his performances over the years will be shown at 9.30pm.

Concert organisers said Jackson would be the first artist to take over an entire ad break.

Tickets for the concerts, costing between £50 and £75, go on sale at 7am on Friday.

Michael Jackson a "great songwriter"?!!!! You have got to be kidding!

How could you put "so you waanna be startin' somethin', so you waanna be startin' somethin', yeah you wanna be startin' something, you gotta be startin' something" or, "Billy-jean is not my lover, she's just the girl that says that I am the one" in the same league as Blowin' in the Wind or Life on Mars or Imagine ? He looks terrible like an old brillo pad and the tour is so insuranced up to the eyeballs I wonder whether he'll actually perform at all and just duck out with illness and take the money for no effort. If someone gave me tickets and no doubt someone will, I intend to give them away! Even my kids think he's hopeless.

Fiirst black artist played on MTV

March 9 2009, 6:58 PM

He's written some great songs:

Don't Stop Till You Get Enough
Billie Jean
Dirty Diana
Bad
Smooth Criminal
Black Or White
Can You Feel It? (co-written with Jermaine Jackson)
Leave Me Alone
Earth Song
Beat It
Wanna Be Starting Something

But he is over rated IMHO.

I have 3 of his albums, Off The Wall, Thriller & Bad. He's not in the same league as Bowie, but he is a great performer.

Jackson dates stretch into 2010 (37 nights) WOW!!!

March 12 2009, 11:14 AM

Michael Jackson's residency at London's O2 arena will continue well into 2010 after the singer added more dates to his farewell tour.

The veteran pop star will now play 37 nights at the venue, with seven shows planned for the new year and February.

Pre-sale tickets for Jackson's first ten dates sold out on Tuesday but some fans complained of "technical problems" trying to register online.

Ticketmaster director Chris Edmonds said demand was "unprecedented".

[linked image]
Michael Jackson said these shows will be his last in the UK

He added: "Unfortunately due to a technical issue, we were unable to facilitate all immediate ticket requests. Apologies to those fans who were unable to log on, but fans should keep on trying to purchase tickets."

Additional codes are being issued, the organisers said, with registration being dealt with on a first come, first served basis.

The pre-ticket sale will close later with the rest of the tickets going on sale to the general public from 0700 GMT on Friday.

Tickets for the Jackson shows are already being sold on the online auction website eBay.

Prices on the site range from £170 to £10,000, but tickets bought directly from the singer's website or Ticketmaster cost up to £75.

The final date listed on the singer's website is 18 February 2010.

Jackson, who has won 13 Grammy awards, has said this will be the last time he will perform in the UK.

What's the Deal

March 12 2009, 3:08 PM

Boy things must really be boring on the Bowie front for Hack Jackson to get so many posts here. Again, the man is a legend in his own mind and because he sold millions of records to prepubescent fans looking for a new peter pan. Again, HE IS A HACK! And is no where near the caliber of Bowie, and why he is discussed here is beyond me.

Love that pig though!

Jackson's 50 shows are a sell-out

March 13 2009, 7:14 PM

I seriously doubt any other living artist could manage this?

Thousands of the star's fans queued through the night outside London's O2 Arena, with many more jamming phone lines in the hope of securing a ticket.

Organiser AEG Live confirmed the 50 This Is It shows sold out late on Friday morning.

Jackson, who has returned to the US for rehearsals, was said to be "ecstatic" about the way the shows had been received.

Ava Zadkhorvash and Ayesha Obi were first in the queue at The O2 Arena and secured tickets shortly after they went on sale at 7am.

The organisers said around 500,000 tickets, priced between £50 and £75, plus booking fees, had been snapped up during the morning.

About 360,000 pre-sale tickets had already been sold for the arena dates - at a rate of 333 a minute.

Shortly after the announcement of the sell-out, tickets were being offered on the online auction site eBay for up £1,500 each, with several hundred available.

Responses from America

March 13 2009, 9:25 PM

1.
I just watched American Idol this week where the contestants had to choose songs from Michael Jackson's very large catalog of songs. When I heard this, I admit I was on the fence...thinking this was most likely not a good choice of artist for this competition. Then the intro came on and Michael Jackson was shown in a way that made him out to be some sort of idealic hero of music.

I will admit that there are several songs by Michael Jackson that I still love and will still sing along with when heard on the radio. I give him his due as far as his talent goes...

However.....

Michael Jackson may have been "acquitted of child molestation" .... but the circumstances surrounding the charge and the final acquittal was at the very least questionable. Even the most staunch Michael Jackson supporters had to raise an eyebrow and ask themselves to reconsider their devotion to him and had to think about what the King of Pop was doing during his downtime at his very childish "Neverland Ranch". Many of those same people wondered if his money had paid for his freedom as it did with OJ Simpson. Celebrity not Race was a factor in both cases.

Then Michael Jackson ran away...he left this country as fast as his slippered feet could carry him. He has kept a very low profile since. We have only heard of him in stories about his outtings with his 'veiled children', whom I worry about everytime I see him with them for many reasons...or in stories of his failing health (mental) and most importantly his failing wealth.

He lost alot of cash in the time between his acquittal and the present.

So now he is trying to make some cash to keep his weird lifestyle afloat...and of course a tour would fit the bill for this.

We should NOT be putting this pedofile on any type of pedestal...we should not be supporting him in anyway...if only to show the world that this kind of behavior will NOT be tolerated in anyway...no matter how much celebrity or money you have. Let him be alone and poor if need be...maybe then he can sit and wonder how he came to be in that place...maybe his thoughts will turn to the small children's lives that he ruined for his own sick pleasures to be fullfilled.

Shame on American Idol for advocating him and giving him any sort of publicity.

Shame on the people who are putting this tour together...everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves.

Shame on the people who have and will buy tickets to his concerts.

Shame on the whole lot of them. By going to one of these concerts you are showing support for a pedofile and showing the rest of the pedofiles in the world that if you wait long enough...everyone will forget what you did and life can go on again as if nothing had ever happened.

Think of how his victims must feel! As dirty as they did when he victimized them, I'm sure!

2.
Everybody quit referring MJ as the King of Pop. Any people who have any common sense knows that he's the King of Pedophiles. I think that it was Elizabeth Taylor who referred to MJ as the King of Pop, and he let it go to his head. How come he named one of his children Prince Michael II. Anybody who shelled out cash to see MJ perform are morons.

3.
I hope that there is a good refund policy for the tickets.

I doubt that he will be able complete 10 concerts, let alone 50.

His mental is fragile and his physical health? Who can really tell?

If he didn't owe money to just about everyone we wouldn't be forced to endure the soap opera that will be the result of this concert series.

750.000 people cannot be wrong?

We should NOT be putting this pedofile on any type of pedestal...we should not be supporting him in anyway...if only to show the world that this kind of behavior will NOT be tolerated in anyway...no matter how much celebrity or money you have. Let him be alone and poor if need be...maybe then he can sit and wonder how he came to be in that place...maybe his thoughts will turn to the small children's lives that he ruined for his own sick pleasures to be fullfilled.

Endless replies, why bother?

March 14 2009, 2:19 PM

I could if I wish give you endless replies Nick, but why should I bother?

I am happy in the knowledge that I shall be going to see Michael Jackson perform at the o2 Arena and marvel at the spectacle.

You have a mean mouth, give me a break.

And I strongly resent the fact that you say I and 750.000 other people are wrong in going to see this performer.

Enough of your moralising. Enjoy life on your cloud.

I shall reply to you no longer in this thread.

FIN.

Proven innocent?

March 14 2009, 7:50 AM

I don't really have a strong view either way - however, in relation to the following comment........................

"The man went on trial and was proven innocent, your continual shouting him down like this Nick makes you look obsessed with Jackson".

It is NOT true to say that he was proven innocent.

It IS true to say that he was not proven guilty.

A subtle but important difference.

As an aside - I think his music is great but I wouldn't let him baby-sit my kids for the weekend.

David

I think his music is great

March 14 2009, 12:44 PM

<< It IS true to say that he was not proven guilty. >>

So in that case what's the problem?

I really do not understand why people keep dragging this OLD story up!

This thread is about a performer (Michael Jackson) who will be performing 50 dates at the o2 in London, the massive ticket sales from around the world have proven phenomenal.

It's about music and spectacle not the past.

"So in that case what's the problem"?

Well, Ant, the problem is that you said he was proven innocent - which is an incorrect statement. I think that it is important to be precise about such things.

However, the overall issue is not a major one for me. I still think that some of his music is outstanding - especially Bad, Thriller and Off The Wall.

I still wouldnt let him baby-sit my kids though.

Would you?

David.

I don't have any children.

I really don't think Michael Jackson would harm children.

'I really don't think Michael Jackson would harm children.'

LOL!! Just take a a look at what he has done and continues to do with his OWN kids. That, in itself, is abuse. There is photographic evidence of his behavior with his kids. Ant, for some unknown reason you are blind to the fact that Jackson is f**ked in the head.

Surely a skewer or meat hook would be acceptable?
