But seriously.....

What nice news to hear this morning!

In 2003, Bowie gave us this incredibly funny insight into his working patterns at home and work:

ROVE:

You're always one step ahead as far as technology goes. You were the first artist to release a song that could be accessible in the internet, the first artist to do interviews by email. Is it important for you not be a technophobe?

BOWIE:

I'm a bit of a Sunday futurist ROVE. I like to tinker away in the shed. Come up with something with a bit science fictiony in the afternoon, you know after lunch.

ROVE:

That's very nice.

BOWIE:

I say to the wife: 'Darling I think I've put my hand on something we're going to see a lot of in the future'.

The best news in the last 5 years has gained responses from only 4 users!!!!

The long wait seems to have made us even harder and cynical than ever before.

Maybe we are waiting for more evidence but the positive thing is that whenever Bowie has "returned to the studio" in the past, it is always with minor stirrings first not major press releases.

If this is real, we will hopefully see something else in the coming weeks to begin amounting the evidence....maybe something from one of his collaborators along the lines of "in discussion with David Bowie regarding a new project", etc.

Yes Adam - sad eh?

I posted a new press quote from Bowie last week here, and the only comment it got was negative and totally nonsensical.

I think....

..we are all a little deflated by Bowie in recent years.

That comment from Iman could mean anything really. It could just be mixing of the long overdue 1976 show or something less important.

When more concrete information appears only then will I be a happy camper.

I totally missed that post of your Stevee, the thread title "Fanfarlo" didn't grab my attention enough to click and read.

Adam, I don't believe anything I read on twitts. It's a load of crap. I don't believe for one minute that Iman is breaking any news there.

Point taken, Stevee...Mr. Bowie has a very good ear for the upcoming. TV On The Radio might have broken out anyway, but I'm sure his rec didn't hurt at all.

We'll just have to keep fingers crossed and hope that a) it really was Ms. Iman and b) she's not talking through her beautifully-designed, well-fitting hat.

It was definitely murder - but was it art?

I agree, SLC. No one knows if the person Twittering as Iman is in fact Iman. I imagine most people dismiss the news of these Twitters as possibly the product of a fevered imagination. There are half a dozen people who I can think of that it might be.

Now if Iman or David were to come on an official website (or other form of media) and confirm this stuff....

Iman's twitter page is genuine.

I just checked her official myspace which has been operated and linked as such for many years now. Sure enough, she says:

Finaly on Twitter!! wooowhooo
Come Join me Fab people would love to keep the ball rolling.
see you all on twitter

Cool that you confirmed it was her, but still not getting hopes up, as if Iman is sincere in Bowie cooking something up, it could just be a reissue package. Still it is good news, whatever it is. happy.gif I'd be happy with a load of unreleased songs being made available,

'cooking something up' could mean anything or nothing.

I think he lets others say stuff like this to get people off his back.

It is good not to be too hopeful (and twitter is indeed trash) but at least we now have an indicator not to haul in all lines.

The first sign of Bowie working on a new album post Hours/Toy was actually a note in the online diary of Robert Fripp's wife.

The Fripp recording never eventuated but the album (Heathen) did.

I imagine that Bowie might get a bit more down on paper before any big announcements. Minor stirrings - not breaking news - is the way these things begin ... and then it builds from there.

The last few days has also seen an end to Gail Ann Dorsey's long hibernation period of online activity.

GAD finally has an official myspace and facebook:

http://www.myspace.com/gailanndorseyofficial

She also has a forthcoming gig in NYC and a plan to play London before the year is out.

<< just discovered even blammo is twittering now >>

Blammo has been twittering on Bowienet for years considering he hasn't been given that much to really actually talk about.

As for any new Bowie album I'll believe it when it's actually in my hand purchased unless it's released digitally download only, in which case it will probably be residing on my ipod rather than in my hand sad.gif wink.gif

Btw just because Bowie endorses a particular artist / group it doesn't automatically follow that they are any good. They might be to Bowie and some of his fan base, but not to everyone.

Cheers Adam for confirming it came from Iman. Well, the mentioning of Blammo and GAD emerging makes me think it could be true. Was just listening to Bowie at the Olympia ('Dame Meditation') this morning and thinking how much I would love to see this man. I never have. I'd love to. Can you imagine the excitement if he returns again? I really want to believe it's true but there's been so many false alarms since 2004, often saying he'll be appearing at various festivals, that I always accept it with caution now.

Yes, thank you for confirming she's really twitting.

I'm very happy that she said what she did. "Cooking something up" could mean anything really... But I got a good feeling from what she said, maybe I've not been hardened enough, even after all these years of rumours. Who knows, maybe in ten years I'll finally give up. wink.gif

Btw, I read in Mike Garson's Twitter page that he gives piano lessons. Imagine having a piano class with Mike Garson! Maybe he is Lexie's teacher? happy.gif

A migraine-inducing concept.

"Cooking something up" may simply be that breadmaking class they're offering at DeLuca's ("Look, dear - it's a brioche").

It was definitely murder - but was it art?

I think (if it's true)it's weird there was no mention of this on Bowienet, or about Iman's twitter account (they did mention Mike Garson's) for that matter.

Has Bowienet finally gone from useless to utter useless?

Well blammo is a couple of days behind schedule of news updates so I reckon it should reach those pages sooner or later.

after all, if you're not afraid to post something like "Rock for pussy" which could use
a more provocative poster imo...

Nice one Adam....
Even if Bowie is back ,if he produced another album like Reality without a tour there would be so many disappointed fans out there.
I'm happy with his backlog of Albums and Boots and would still buy any new material ,but not holding my breath...
P.S I still listen to Reality now and again..Given a choice of a New album or a Re mastered complete (with 5 Years) 1976 Nassau Show
I would go the 1976 Nassau Show....( That Just Me)..
