Is "Heroes" a pun? "hear-oh's"?

Hi. I have a question about Bowie's song, "Heroes." Is it a pun? Is it a play on the word, "hear"? Bowie is well-known for his wordplay and in particular for his puns.

When Bowie is singing the chorus to "Heroes," does he put his hand to his ear in the universal hand sign for "hear"? If so, I say the word "heroes" is a pun.

May I just ask BWW something? When Bowie sings this song live, doesn't he hold his hand to his ear, as if to say "hear-oh's" instead of "heroes"?
