Bet you didn't know that in the early '80s, a female-led postpunk band called the Au Pairs did a cover of Bowie's song REPETITION. It's very good, very quirky, but markedly different from The Gentleman's rendition of it, lacking the ominous synth sounds in the original that are, I presume, supposed to represent both the fear of living with an abusive partner and the fury of an abusive partner's blows. Both versions are excellent, but I'm more partial to Bowie's. |
