Sorry Guys but Bats really thinks Mr Bowie has hit a point of life
where he is becoming like all Men when they reach a certain age
I call it the Fading Star,,then they get cranky ,,and sit around and do
nothing pick at what you do worry about their money etc,and just do what they want to do ,and don't you touch the TV control
It's sad ,,but that what happens I can understand
as I have the same with SO,,but yrs ago a woman told me ,her Husband was a
famous Dr ,,and she just sat home ,,dressed -up waiting to go out,,it got
that way she would just call a Taxi and go out on her own, then when he retired he expected her to rot like him ,,
This is what is happening to Bowie

Or perhaps he has a really nice life now and he wants to live it. He's under no obligation to do anything, for us or anyone else. Sure it'd be nice, but I can't really begrudge him his genteel retirement. And the occasional film festival.

It was definitely murder - but was it art?

That being said, I'd like to hear him say somthing one way or the other.

If that is how it's going to be, so be it.

This breathless waiting for something that may not happen is lame.

Geo.

Maybe.

Maybe I'm being a bit romantic about all of this; that and I don't know the man personally or anything; but I can't picture him being cranky or , you know, in any way disgruntled about his plight. I do hope though that he's still doing cool things like painting, writing things not necessarily musical; photography.. Although he's been musically-inactive, I can't honestly picture him not keeping busy with something creative. Perhaps he and his daughter share a similar creative hobby together and he's enjoying her growing into her talents as he demonstrates to her, his.

I like to think he's just being a realist though. There's something to be said for stopping while you still have your game. Other than the lollipop-in-the-eye thing and the heart scare, the 'A Reality' tour was a good way to wrap up a certain era for him. Some have their druthers about the 'Reality' album (I still dig it), but having created 'Heathen' a year before , he still did wrap up things while he was still on top. He's too smart and cool to do anything from here on out that he would find embarrassing, or less than as a standard. I honestly think that he's just at a place now where he prolly full-on adores watching his child grow before his eyes; while his son is doing cool stuff with directing movies, and of course having the lovely Iman and her/their happy.gif daughter as a family unit.. I sound creepy, commenting on this, don't I? wink.gif No intentions to there..

I just sense that he'd rather be where he's at doing what he's doing. While it is quite frustrating not knowing whether or not he's "done" with music, he can carry on knowing that if he should decide to do so again, he would have no words to break as far as claiming any sort of retirement. Plus, he is creativity. Whatever he should decide or not decide to do, I'm down with. He's a smart cookie; he knows what he's doing happy.gif . I'd sooner forsake a gig than the occasional new tune, or project. Maybe one day. Maybe!

Seemed not to have freaked him out sufficiently to go into retirement, but you never know. Some awful things happen to the male body when it gets north of sixty.

It was definitely murder - but was it art?

Yeah...

June 10 2009, 2:55 PM

Physical aging's a bitch, man.
I was always wondering how much of it is "simple" (not that anything ever is sometimes) vanity in not wanting to do it anymore, for whatever reason.

Maybe he just knows where he's at and that's enough for him for a awhile, maybe ever.

Who's to say, you know?

If it's a matter of it being a matter of physical realities and not being comfortable enough anymore to gig, then I can follow that. I hope he never fully rules out some new material down the line at some point. It's only over if he says so, right wink.gif ?

Ya.
wink.gif
Peace!

Re: Yeah...

I feel performance relies heavily on feeling good about yourself, and should you not feel good in what you are doing, then the tendancy would be, to do what you do feel good about yourself in doing. I can't see db being happy with his bingo wings and man boobs. If he can't pull off what he wants, the way he wants, I think he will avoid it.

Bingo wings; is that arm flabber from the bicep region then?

I like "bitch titties" myself, for further man-boob slang wink.gif LOL.

Me? I'm at least an A-cup wink.gif LOL.
