Was this democracy? ( non db )

Regardless of what anyone thinks of the BNP and it's agenda / policies, does organized violent protests ( as witnessed yesterday by UAF ) against any political party of any persuasion who has been democratically voted into something, justify mob violence forcing that party from exercising their right to democratically elected free speech within the UK?

Surely the way to counter the BNP is to shoot them down through proper political debate and not by forcing them into abandoning a legitimate press conference thus denying their right to exercise free speech, all that mob did yesterday was to give the BNP some legitamate armour.

The BNP are regarded as fascists, were that mob outside Parliament yesterday any better?

Just wondering?

They asked this to one of the protesters on Radio 4's PM last night. They said no and seemed very inarticulate.

Im sure they were just `rent - a - protestor` types.

Wonder if they`ll be throwing eggs at SInnFein politicians whose policies have led to the murder of many British citizens. Yet they can freely espouse their views in OUR parliament.
Im also intrigued by the hollow protestations of the councillors who lost to the BNP, by walking offstage, not wishing to listen or share a stage with such `odious` people. Yet these councillors seem quite happy to represent party`s who have only recently shown what a corrupt lot most are, and their actions are the very reason the BNP has been elected.
Twats, all of them.

Love On.

I think that democracy, or the aspiration towards it, is part of all us.

Vote if the opportunity is given..people have fought for that right.

I agree that the BNP have a right to speak..

However, allow me to be against them, through debate, and everything they stand for.

which is ugly and non progressive.

If the BNP were in power, England would have lost tonight.

English jobs for English workers, on your bike, foreign Mr Capello. Come back Steve 'brolly' Mclaren.

I wonder if that means Ronaldo, Fabreags, Berbatov, Anelka, Torres etc.. would also get deported?

Poor old Arsenal would only have 1 player, Theo Walcott and they probably wouldn't be happy with him either as he seems to be of mixed race.

I couldn't agree more tony, it's the main stream party's that have allowed British politics to descend into the utter corrupt chaos we are seeing today whether its the corrupt expenses claims, general blatant lies ( we will never privatise Royal Mail, Labour said in their last general election manifesto, we will give the British public a referendum on whatever, only for it never to happen sad.gif ) or the simple fact that the British electorate just seem to not have any say or influence on anything within the UK except to register a worthless vote for political party's that have absolutely nothing of any worth to offer anyone anymore.

The double standards in this country are laughable. I mean all those protesters the other day united against the BNP and forced them to abandon their legitimate press conference, but I don't recall those same people giving the same hard time to Abu Hansa ( the guy with the hook ) when he was preaching his regular messages of hate in the streets outside his mosque untroubled by any kind of authority for a long time, which sullied the good name of genuine Muslims and the peaceful religion of Islam. It's also ironic that successive governments both Tory and Labour have done nothing but dictate to the British public what they can or can't do, or what they can or can't say, and who have generally controlled every aspect of our lives despite the majority of the British public disagreeing with whatever they are saying or trying to push through parliament, along with that fascist dictatorial European parliament in Brussels. They should be grateful that the BNP have got some MEPs, because they will serve to direct the attention away from their fascist ideals.

Personally I think we are all fucked whoever we vote for these days, caught between a rock and a hard place I think the phrase is. As you say tony, they are all corrupt fashist twats! no wonder the turn out to vote was low and there were many deliberately spoilt ballot papers, the real sad thing is they all can't understand? why it happened! and why a political party like the BNP got so many votes. sad.gif
