Round & Round vs I Keep Forgettin

I love Round & Round, but i hate I Keep Forgettin.
Looking at the two songs, the originals are from the same period, and both recordings follow the same kinda structure.
The only noticable difference is the use of horns on I Keep Forgettin.
Ive had a really good think, and wondered if both recordings were swapped round, would i feel differently.??
Had the Spiders tackled I Keep Forgettin, and Ronno had got to grips with it, would it sound dirtier. Indeed, had the TONIGHT band had a crack at Round & Round, would its garage energy be maintained ??

Just in a ponderous mood today happy.gif

Love On.

Good question.
Surely, both are of their time i guess.
I liked the idea that Bowie did Round & Round cos "that was the kinda song Ziggy woulda done".

Perhaps i dislike I Keep Forgettin, cos theres a seriousness to Bowies vocal, which renders the rendition frivolous to me, whereas Round & Round, has a playfulness to the vocal, which makes that rendition fun and UP.!!

Love On.

I love Round & Round, I hate I Keep Forgettin, I truly despise God Only Knows.
Actually I dislike most of his cover versions.

God Only Knows has more cheese than a lorry crash between an Edam truck and a Dairylea Truck.
Can't see that one I must admit. It's almost an imitation of a croon. The definition of 'going through the motions'. IMHO. wink.gif

The cover I hate most is It Aint Easy which serves no point on Ziggy other than to fill up side A in the old vinyl days when they tried to match the two sides. It is just so out of place.

My favourite cover has to be the cover of America at the Heroes concert 9/11 - that worked really well.

Gotta agree with you about "America," which was one of the S&G songs I always really loved. Something about how Cockney he sounded was really touching - in an interview he'd said that Ground Zero reminded him of the bombed-out East End of his childhood.

I'm okay, you're so-so
