Freedom the lesson we must learn
Do you know what I mean?
Have your eyes really seen?
I was in Topshop yesterday and entered into my phone the little snatches of lyrics I could grasp from the song playing in the shop.
I googled it today and it is 'Never Forget You' by The Noisettes. I frequently find that I discover new music this way (usually in Topshop or River Island) in the absence of a decent source like TOTP or Longwave Atlantic 252 used to be years ago.
I need to give it a good proper listen tomorrow. Didn't get to listen to it today. I hope it's as good as I remember it. There's remnants of the song and its bassline going around in my head all day but I often find when I check out the song then I'm disappointed at its clean sound. It's much more patchy and hissy in my head
Really nice song. Of course I thought of Winehouse initially on hearing it yesterday. They're going to be at a lot of the festivals in the coming weeks.

Hey Alan, yer 'linked image' ain't appearing for me. Did you genuinely like the Noisettes? I bought their album and while I am disappointed that they are 'just another band' with very mediocre lyrics I do like their melodies. I bought their album yesterday in HMV (yes kids, you know those things called 'record stores'?) and am immensely enjoying them. I'm very tempted to try get a ticket for the oxegen festival in that takes place in like two or three weeks time to see 'em. They should be on very early in the day. They haven't quite caught on despite Don't Upset the Rhythm being a big hit (but what does the singles chart mean these days??). I remember being at Oxegen when the Killers played very early day on the new band stage and now they're huge, could be the same with this lot you know. Check 'em out folks. I really wouldn't bovver saying that to you if I didn't think they were worth it. The music biz has changed. Give this lot more time and I think they could be vewy interesting!
Hi Jean, I think the Noisettes are pretty cool, might be annoying after a while but from what I've heard they have an attitude & immediacy about them which I like. Not got the album yet, though. If you see them you'll have to post your review here
The song which was stuck in my head was We Are The People by Empire Of The Sun, sounds like Mylo mixed with Scissor Sister and Air. I bought the song on Monday & right at this very moment I am downloading their album now fromhttp://www.play.com
I saw Noisettes on Jonothan Ross last night - I love that Wild Young Hearts. Then I didn't like the band when I heard them a month or two ago. Then I have now figured it's just that song Don't Upset the Rhythm..which sounds pretty ordinary
I only just caught a bit of this other version of Panic in Detroit yesterday that I never knew existed! It's from Scary Monsters. Those reissues were gone by the time I started listening though. I believe it's on the 2cd ed of Heathen too. That occasionally crops up. Will check for it this weekend. I can't find it on youtube to have a listen. There's only a short snippet of the tune towards the end of the 'Bowie huffing coke' youtube clip. Anyway, just saying it sounds great and keep watching that clip when I log on just to get a short listen!
I didn't like Thursday's Child on first hearing but I liked the version on Storytellers so I put it in rotation. Now it's stuck. Maybe a cup of coffee will help. Maybe Cracked Actor.
