11th June 87, 16th June 1987, 23rd and 24th June 1987

LP / cass > Nakamichi Deck > CD > wav > flac

01. Real Cool Time - Hammersmith 24th June 87
02. Real Wild Child - Hammersmith 24th June 87
03. Dirt - Hammersmith 24th June 87
04. Down on the Street - Hammersmith 23rd June 87
05. Blah Blah Blah - Edinburgh 16th June 87
06. Search and Destroy - Hammersmith 24th June 87
07. Sister Midnight - Hammersmith 24th June 87
08. Sixteen - Hammersmith 24th June 87
09. I Wanna Be Your Dog - Hammersmith 24th June 87
10. No Fun - Hammersmith 24th June 87
11. TV Eye - Hammersmith 24th June 87
12. Sick of You - Bristol 11th June 87
13. Lust For Life - Bristol 11th June 87

14. Dirt - Edinburgh 16th June 87
15. Sister Midnight - Hammersmith 23rd June 87
16. No Fun - Edinburgh 16th June 87
17. TV Eye - Edinburgh 16th June 87

This won't be for everyone, but this is my own compilation from some of Iggy's live 1987 shows, that I have decided to share.

The songs are my personal picks from these concerts :

Bristol Colston Hall 11th June 87
Edinburgh Playhouse 16th June 87
Hammersmith Odeon 23rd June 87
Hammersmith Odeon 24th June 87

The Edinburgh show is a mixing desk show : in common with such shows the recording format works for and against the material.
It is brittle, and 'close'...some songs work with this sound, others don't, hence my preferring certain songs, and jettisoning the rest.

The Hammersmith shows are very good quality audience recordings, however the tapes were subject to wow and flutter (minor speed fluctuation) here and there, and simply some songs don't come across so well as an audience recording in this case, hence me preferring my own selection.

WORK CARRIED OUT :

1. Re-balancing and speed correction (-2.5%) on Hammersmith 24th June 1987 (was biased towards left channel, and ran too fast).
2. Re-balancing on Hammersmith 23rd June 1987 (there was slight biased towards left channel).
3. Speed correction on Edinburgh 87 :very minor, 0.7% increase to bring it up to Hammersmith 23 June 87 speed.
4. Re-balancing on Bristol (there was slight biased towards right channel).
5. Speed correction on Bristol 87 :very minor, 0.5% increase, based on comparison with other recordings.
6. I have tried a little de-clicking on the LP (Edinburgh and Bristol) sourced tracks
7. A little mixing of the recordings and further re-balancing to create a smooth flowing recording.

NB for all the above amendments, I am a novice, but I feel (and have been told) I have a good ear for things. If you're not sure about my changes, or the results, have a go yourself.

I have included some scans of the Napalm to Nice Guy live LP.

I like the way this works...I can hear all the indispensible songs from these shows, without forwarding to other tracks.

I hope you like it too.

ENJOY!

I have the vinyl boot of 'From Napalm To Nice Guy', that's the Edinburgh show which I was at. Rather ironically, I got it here in France, never even seen it in Scotland.

Again though, it's the same problem as 'Alarm' in that I don't have a way to get it from vinyl into here as yet.

Also, I don't even know how it'll sound. I had a standalone PC with individual components including the sound card in Edinburgh which used phono/RCA inputs. Now that I have a notebook, everything's integrated onto the motherboard so I would imagine that there would be some kind of electrical interference during the transfer.

Still as I said yesterday, I'm thinking of ways to do it and eventually, I'll come up with a solution.

Mist.

You'll find it :)

July 2 2009, 1:39 PM

I've learnt a lot in the last couple of weeks, re transferring to CD, torrenting, mixing etc.

Like the little screw on the tapehead to 'tune in] a tape - what a little marvel! happy.gif

Like I say I've had an offer of the recording of the Alarm LP, and it seems the FM recording of the Iggy concert (Bowie plays keyboards) should come through after all, hopefully.

As Napalm to Nice Guy, can't remember where I got it...a record fair I think, had a crease in the cover and they still charged me an arm and a leg! happy.gif

Still I put the highlights (well, my choices, I did compare the gigs carefully) on the torrent above, and the complete album has been shared before.

I've put up a live '88 compilation too...

I've got that Napalm to Nice Guy LP.

July 5 2009, 1:10 AM

And a cassette of the Bristol show. The man that taped it gave it to me after he put it onto CD, so I think it's probably the master tape!

It's great. But, I don't see what any of this Iggy bootleg has to do with Bowie? Bowie only played on the 1977 tour.

The fact you are a Bowie fan

July 5 2009, 1:28 AM

yet you are interested in Iggy and what you have read here, to me means there's no reason it "shouldn't" be here.

Their careers are intrinsically linked...little things like ...

Raw Power
The Idiot
What In The World
Lust For Life
Play It Safe
China Girl
Dancing With The Big Boys
Blah Blah Blah
Bang Bang
....

need I say more?

happy.gif

Re your Bristol tape, don't suppose you fancy sharing that!?

I'll happily trade my tape.

July 5 2009, 10:58 AM

Although it doesn't have any David Bowie on it. It's an Iggy gig, so it's probably against the rules to do it on here. Or at least it should be! I expect there are a lot of people on here who like Iggy Pop, but they go to Iggy websites to talk about him.

To get back onto topic (Mr Bowie!) did anyone see Bowie play keyboards with Iggy in '77? I play keyboards and sing, so it's a subject that interests me a lot!

The first time I saw Iggy was in 77. Unfortunately it was on the second tour of the UK that he did that year - the one without Bowie. Doh!

Nevertheless it was fantastic!

Luckily, it was in March at the Rainbow, so a certain person turned up.

July 5 2009, 2:12 PM

And I like Iggy too, but I do know that this is a David Bowie messageboard. And for people who come here because they like David Bowie and not Iggy Pop, it must seem terribly dull.

Which is why I tried to bring it back onto topic (the topic being the amazing Mr David Bowie!) by asking who here saw David play keyboards and sing with Iggy in '77? Other people have been kind enough to answer.

Oh, by the way, I didn't - I was too young.

You are being very silly

July 5 2009, 3:10 PM

and you are clearly most likely Nibbler under a different sign in.

People have left this board because of people like you / Nibbler because they find all mudslinging very dull, and the fact that there is very little new of late re Bowie to discuss.

So get over it.

'Pally with Mad Michael'??

I don't normally respond to anyone that sounds like they've named themselves after a hamster but I'll tell you this:

I have anonymous emails from someone that you're pally with until they made a mistake by sending the last one via their own IP address. Your pal almost begged me not to report them to their ISP and Network54 and I've been sitting on the mails for the past 1.5 years until they become useful to me. Apart from me and the sender, only two other people know the contents of these emails.

So don't make stupid comments about being 'pally with Mad Michael'. Look to your own friends first beforehand.

Mist.

Oh Michael, that old chestnut again?

I think we all know it was me who sent you those emails, and yes, it was me who apologised to you -because I regretted sending them.

I certainly wouldn't have apologised if I'd known you were, for whatever reason, going to hang on to them as some sort of 'insurance policy' (as you put it) for so long.

Publish them if it will make you feel better - I really don't care. No-one cares.

Well, you think what you like because if you 'think we all know it was you who sent these emails", which as you'll recall, the subject was our child, then that information could only have come from yourself because I only told two people. You've just publicly admitted sending them to me to all and sundry who read this thread, and people will make of that as they will. My post was meant for Nibbler and I deliberately didn't mention your name, but you couldn't resist, could you? After all in your words, 'you used to be one of the most popular posters on this board'.

If I get anything again from you, then I won't give you a second chance, I'll just go straight to your ISP and have done with it.

Mist.

But don't you see, fool, that by discussing it openly here he's telling you that you can't use your bully-boy tactics to blackmail him or me into, what?, not pointing out what a psychotic twat you are? We don't really have to, do we? You do a fine job of demonstrating that yourself.

Re: ...

July 6 2009, 1:08 PM

Simple solution then:

If everybody knows about the anonymous emails and nobody cares about them, then let's see your pal post them plus my replies, in their entirety. Very simple and not unreasonable, but I don't think your pal will do that.

I know I'm dealing with dumbed down under here, but even I would be shocked if he did it.

So in essence, look to your own pals first, before you bring me up in a thread just because I have an Iggy track that Stranger's looking for and have no objection to their posts or signatures.

Now, away back and listen to your 'Kraut' rock CDs.

Mist.

I hardly think so. I've only just joined! And I haven't said anything controversial, other than ask who saw Bowie with Iggy and to say that I have a master tape of an Iggy gig that you want. How bloody rude!

I'm not a troll, I'm just a gal who wants to talk about Bowie with other Bowie fans. I don't know who mad Michael is or Stranger or anybody, but if they're just going to spoil a good website for everybody like this then that's a pretty bad show, I reckon.

Hi

July 6 2009, 1:54 AM

Hi Annie

The board here lacks a stucture as you'll notice : there's been a lot of discussion on Michael Jackson, which while that is not surprising, the fact the threads on him are not amalgamated into one 'RIP' type thread like they would be on other more segregated forums, means it is a free for all.

Which sometimes creates friction amongst those who feel some things should be discussed and some shouldn't.

Curiously, you've got caught up in crossfire between me and Nibbler, and he thought you were a troll too! happy.gif

If that's not the case I apologise - it's a sharp coincedence you've arrived here at a time where there were a couple of moans about Iggy being discussed here, while others pointed out they felt Iggy is a fair topic for discussion.

If you have an Iggy master tape that's very interesting - I'm a fair person and I think many here would say that.

The forum owner does not ban people willy nilly, so I don't think any ban is going to come my way currently - that only happens when people repeatedly break Network 54 rules persistently.

I've been on the defensive as while the posts about Iggy torrents I've hoped to share with likeminded people on here (and there are many Bowie fans who like Iggy) have been been subjected to derision by people who have nothing better to do than moan, I've already pointed out one of the reasons I have been pushing Iggy related matters on this board was to help get a swap together for an Iggy/Bowie related item that I hope to share.

Thankfully a very helpful member of the community has helped there.

I hope you'll feel free to discuss Iggy here or what you like.
