I'm sure this has been mentioned on here, but I just heard on the radio during a review of 'Moon' that Bowie has reverted to 'Jones' in effect retiring 'David Bowie'.

His credit card apparently holds the name 'David Robert Jones' and has done for the past few years at least.

I remember seeing Iman interviewed on Oprah before they got married and she said that she was "looking forward to becoming Mrs Jones."

I don't think DB ever did an Elton and changed his name. Bowie has always been his stage name.

Thanks to the people who could tell the difference between 'retiring the persona' and 'changing his name back to Jones'.

"David Jones" is an alright name - just a bit bland for a rockstar.


"Reginald Dwight" - on the other hand - is complete and utter geek material.


Which of course means Elton's parents had it right in the first place.

Yes Bowie has always just been a stage name rather than an official name change. Sounds like he wants to cash in on his son's name?
