Got my first one from my Son when he was on holidays in New York as a present in 05,the U2 one. It's 20gb and way over filled so i bought a second hand 80gb last night for 70.
I have only gotten round to putting some stuff on it and it sounds much better than the older one i had even mp3's sound better!
Even though i'm trying to keep this one in better quality, sound wise because i have the space.

My father-in-law gave me his iPod video (20 gig, I think) some time back and I gave it to my sister. She tells me the sound quality is awful: CDs sound scratchy and gappy on the thing. I suppose it might be her Mac's CD player dropping info but she's not mechanical enough to test the hypothesis. I had an identical one that was fine, but I gave it to a friend when I got an iPhone. Anyone else have this problem, and was it fixable?

You never know the real story.

Love my Ipod. I have a 120GB. Its over half full now. SOund is fine, not many complaints, except i wish they`d include a radio within the player.

Love On.

they are brilliant.....carrying your whole record collection in your shirt pocket...fantastic. more futuristic than those little silver balls in TMWFTE. would not go anywhere without mine.

The little silver balls in The Man Who Fell to Earth were futuristic because we didn't have them (or anything like them) in 1976.

iPods are not futuristic because we have had them since 2001.

Are you with me Chris?

Future is as furure does

Used to be if it had tail fins it was futuristic - didn't know a cocktail shaker had to be aerodynamic.

The concept of all your entertainment options walking around with you in a silicon candy bar will just have to do, until we get the cranial media slots installed in the next decade or so.

You never know the real story.

Sounds like an oxymoron, but I love the nostalgia of retro-futurism. Those silver music balls in TMWFTE looked very cool.

I remember being a lone voice amongst my peers when raving about the first MP3 compatible CD personal stereos. They were CD Walkmans that took MP3 CDs. Thought it was cool that you could fit about 10 albums onto 1 disc. I didn't guess that the next step would be to bypass the CD completely and make the personal stereos data storage devices.

I still can't decide whether to get a 120gb ipod Classic or an 32gb ipod Touch? one of them when I decide should hopefully be my birthday present.

Btw is there anywhere where I can get my old/ current ipod Photo refurbished? at a cheapish cost, because the white plastic cover is a bit scratched in places even though it's always been kept in one of those iSkin rubber covers. It's probably due to grit getting under the covers edges at work sad.gif My 7 year old son wants it, when I replace it and I'd quite like to get it refurbished before I give it to him, apart from that it's still going strong and besides it will no doubt become a classic to a collector sometime in the future.wink.gif

Personally, i would recommend the Touch - the extra sized screen is great for videos and the Apps are fantastic.
32Gb is plenty to store quite a few days continuous music. 120 Gb is enough to put most people's entire music collection on and that would be cool to be able to access any song when I want - but it is the Apps that sway it for me.

Ipods are handy. My young nephews and nieces have 100s of albums on their ipods yet don't own any cds!

Gabe, d'you mind me asking what age they are? I have found many my age (early twenties) can't remember the last CD they bought. I, on the other hand, choose to collect music the old fashioned way. It's fascinating though that music can be acquired so quickly, with a few clicks of the mouse, acquiring what used to take years to collect.

(PS Chris, respond to your fucking emails wink.gif)

ages 15 to 18. It's so easy to download artists entire catalog of albums. Also a lot cheaper, it would cost fortune to buy the bands entire discography at the stores. I still like buying cds too, with downloading sometimes i forget what the hell i downloaded.

I must admit the Touch does look the business my only concern with the Touch is that they are a bit big to carry around with you. My current ipod photo is massive compared to the new Classic and it does annoy me when it's in my pocket, also I have had a go with the Touch in my local 02 shop and I find that when you press the icons on the screen it doesn't always respond first time, maybe I just need thinner fingers? wink.gif plus the screen getting scratched and dirty would annoy me as well I think.

Ahh! decisions decisions happy.gif
