The recent thread about Bowie's Live Aid set got me thinking. I always thought that a couple of the songs were strange choices given the man's catalogue.
My four picks would have been......
1. Blue Jean - A belting and much underrated song to kick off with.
2. Oh! You Pretty Things - A hippyish song with a great sing-along chorus that seems to somehow fit the occasion.
3. Memory of a Free Festival - Just imagine that Wembley crowd singing "The sun machine is coming down........."
Heroes and Modern Love were perfect for the event. Maybe him singing Lennon's Imagine but I think someone else sung that that day, wasn't it Patti La belle (or someting like that). Changes would have been appropriate. Or Fantastic Voyage but that isnt exactly something the average audiance would really know.
then again how about him doing Under Pressure with Queen? They were there anyway.
