No

no info, but conjecture happy.gif

the sleeve does look 'uncluttered', but I'm sure there are others more knowledgeable than me on the subject able to comment on that.

"Finally the story about its discovery seems almost too good to be true. An ex-Philips employee discovers a box of rare demos plus those picture sleeves. This is what, 25 years after it was released?"

a bit like the box of Rebel Rebel singles?

Or a mastertape I heard about being discovered the other day.

It can happen.

It would've been a great effect.

You never know the real story.

Very doubtful.

All the UK Philips picture sleeve singles I've seen from 1969 have flipback covers and are on either thick paper (like the later Starman pic sleeve for RCA) or laminated card. The Philips logo on the back was also, by and large, much larger.

Also, the late Greg Van Dike was, it's fair to say, not averse to selling things that are less than authentic. The Plymouth '72 posters, for instance, never did exist - they were knocked up from the newspaper artwork from the time. Greg's father promoted the gig.

Oh, and as for stereo 45s from Holland

These were the promos. Issued in a plain Philips company sleeve.

re the uncluttered sleeve

July 17 2009, 11:29 AM

by coincedence, a Space Oddity original single I bought a few years back fell out of some LP's I was sorting through last night...the pic of the back of the sleeve above tallied with the single I had roughly - ie similar amount / lack of text.

I presume you're talking about Ray's tape of Birmingham '73?

July 18 2009, 6:29 PM

That's the master. I've offered equitable material to him for a trade.
