Yet More Bowie On NPR

On turning on National Public Radio this morning our ears were nailed by the intro to '1984.'
It accompanied a piece on re. the Kindle business: Amazon.com recently exercised its heretofore little-known ability to delete books from peoples' electronic readers, which has caused a huge kerfuffle on the Internet. The irony: the deleted books were George Orwell's classic novels. They played the intro and outro, which is I suppose a fairly pleasant way of getting essentially depressing news.

I believe that's the consensus.

It is, of course, ironic that the origin of this unpleasantness is some detail of the Orwell copyrights. Which irony is only heightened by the insertion of Mr. Bowie.

Wasn't that fascinating?
I did not hear it this morning, but did hear about the
Great Kindle Swindle. And of ALL the titles to delete.
And yeah, eh? And to play bowie '84 in the background only
heightens the (grim) joke.
Wow, the story really is chilly in its possibilities.

If you stand back far enough, existence is pretty funny.
