Space Oddity re-release anouncement one week, Station to Station the next. Arent we lucky what's next? But already it begs the question.
Will there be some consistancy to the re-releases?
Will they be re-released case by case basis?
like the s2s one it has it's own individual qualities such as the concert.
and the Space Oddity one obviously has no concert to go with it but has an amundance of rare demos and recordings.
Then some will have tv rare appearances as there rare qualities...not sure which that would be.
already a difference though when it comes to format as 5.1 is missing from Space Oddity. Shame really but then I guess certain albums won't really benefit from the treatment. Pin ups has alot to offer if 1980 floor show is released with it but wouldn't really gain anything from havng a 5.1 mix.
What will happen in 2015 when Young Americans 40th is due. since we've had the 5.1 treatment already will that come out repackaged with added rarities?
a new album already with demos and 5.1 and live concert will save time and money.
opinions please.

I don't think they'll bother with re-issuing previously done albums like YA, Ziggy, Aladdin, David Live etc. At least not for a long while.
And i think it'll be case by case basis as to extras and even packaging style. Just look at the variety of packaging we had for Ziggy 30th, David Live, Stage, Black Tie White Noise.

you're right I don't think we need Aladdin Sane again so soon.
The one that was real value for money (so far) was the packaging for BTWN. Ok there were alot of remixes but still it had three definite offerings.CD, Bonus disc and DVD.

I'd like to see the 40th Anniversary releases continue with rare demos and out takes. If it did I don't think its too early for another edition of most albums i.e.
2010 MWSTW
2011 Hunky Dory
2012 Ziggy
2013 AS
etc.

For me the most salient feature of the Space Oddity release is the phase, "remastered to sound like an analogue vinyl first pressing." This is exciting and I would buy every Bowie album again if they were mastered this way.

I wouldn't want the Glass stuff on it. I wouldn't want those remixes either. Those extended edits aren't anything to write home about either.
Besides, Jeff Rougie (?) at Ryko said there were enough out-takes for a double album from the Low/Heroes sessions.
The '78 tv thing is Musikladen but shows like that cost money to license. Same would go for a Japanese show I guess.
As for 'The Visitor', Paul Buckmaster has said he wouldn't want the soundtrack released unless Bowie went back into the studio and finished it properly.
