I while back a spoof album cover circulated for Toy, I thought it was called Sex Toy. I think the cover was red with a banana on the front. Thought I had saved a copy but obviiously not.

Does anyone have a copy that they will share?

You know, looking at that fake back cover it becomes even more apparent why Toy would have been difficult to market.  To avoid fans thinking this was yet another Pye/Deram era reissue they would have had to put lame explanations in brackets like

Afraid (New track!)

Baby Loves that Way (2001 update)

Conversation Piece (2001 update)

Hole in the Ground (New track!)

I Dig Everything (2001 update)

etc.

You get the idea.

I credit Bowie fans with more intelligence.

...and buyers who weren't 'fans' wouldn't have had a clue.

There are Bowie fans who don't buy everything that comes out you know, especially if it's one of the many reissues/anniversary editions/remastered versions etc.  Plenty of people didn't buy the Buddha of Suburbia because they thought it was a soundtrack and plenty of people didn't buy the Young Americans reissue because they were fed up buying the same albums again and again.

They were pre-internet days.

I should imagine every Bowie fan to have internet access and would know what's new and what isn't.

was this the official listing?

I always thought that 'Pictures of Lilly' should be on it as well.

... 'Pictures of Lily' would be well suited for Toy, except it has already featured on an official 2001 release.
