My severe anger with Bowie Wonderworld

I have an issue with the members of BWW.

ALL of you know I don't deserve a ban. You may hate me, you may loathe me, you may detest me, but you know I don't deserve banishment. So why didn't any of you stick up for me?

I know, I realize about 5 of you did, but what about the rest?

All it takes for evil to succeed is for good people to stand by and do nothing. That's exactly what you did, BWW: nothing. I sincerely hope that good people don't stand around, twiddling their thumbs while YOU are being attacked.

I know this for a fact: all of you have gotten a good deal of enjoyment by reading my posts, satires, and thoughts about Bowie. I don't even charge you for it. So how about standing up for me once in a while?

Really Sam, you should have known better than to attempt any discourse with that Nibbler cretin. By doing so, you only encouraged him. The guy's a dick.

I've spent the last month in the middle of the French countryside and have just logged in here less than 5 minutes ago and from the previous thread, I see that I don't even have to be here for Nibbler to mention me, as he said in last nights thread:

"Tell me about it. This whack job makes Michael look relatively sane."

Obviously, he spends a fair bit of time thinking about this board (or me), in order to involve me which in turn suggests to me, that the clown has far too much time on his hands.

Just ignore him. The problem is, to paraphrase Morrissey; the more you ignore him, the closer he gets"!

Michael: that was a cheap shot nibbler took at you. You didn't even have anything to do with that thread. He brought your name up out of nowhere. I know how much that hurts.

Yeah, calling him a whackjob is like shooting fish in a barrel. But what a surprise that I should mention his name and then all of a sudden he's back. Like a bad penny.

I don't know, you wait ages for a nutcase and then two turn up at once.

But Sam, look at his follow up post! When I saw the original one, I didn't think anything of it, really. Nibbler on the otherhand did, otherwise he wouldn't have brought it up again!

Nibbler can think all he wants about me for all I care. If he has a go at me, at least he's leaving someone else alone.

Make a signature: Time to ban Nibbler!

As I've quoted in the past: "Australia is where you go when youve made a mess of everything. Thats why the 1.3m Brits who live there are known as whingeing Poms. Because theyre all failures!"

I'm trying to work out

September 8 2009, 8:32 PM

if that comment is xenophobic or full-blown racist. Whichever, it does demonstrate a clear lack of moral fibre and intelligence. And it's hardly fair on our Australian friends or, indeed, anybody who chooses to migrate from the country of their birth.

It's neither. It's one of Jeremy Clarkson's jokes. It's just that Michael has no sense of humour, so he takes it seriously.

It's actually a quote by a columnist in a newspaper owned by a famous AUSTRALIAN magnate, who maintains FULL and COMPLETE editorial control over all his media. That quote is sanctioned and approved by an AUSTRALIAN otherwise it wouldn't be there, would it?

Me? Xenophobe? Rascist?

Oh son, you do make us laff!

I don't see how it matters what country Mr Nibbler comes from.

You seem to find it important though. Why is that?

I don't find it important. I find it significantly insignificant as a matter of fact. However, I do find it rather pleasing that Nibbler proved my point in a post I made a few minutes ago, in that if he has a go at me, then at least he's leaving some other poor sod alone. Sam's been forgotten, I'm now the object of his (and apparently yours also), attentions.

Job done.

Hey Michael, aren't you way overdue for another dramatic "this is the last you'll ever hear from me" flounce out of here never to return?

You haven't done one of those for ages. Are you in to double figures yet? It can't be far off.

On the contrary.

September 8 2009, 9:14 PM

You are using Mr Nibbler's nationality as a means of attack on his character. You are certainly xenophobic and quite possibly a full-blown racist.

Very unsavoury.

Re: On the contrary.

September 8 2009, 9:25 PM

In case you hadn't noticed, Nibbler doesn't have a nationality. He's alternately English or Australian, depending on which one suits him best in any given situation.

When he posts about 'Krautrock', is that not slightly offensive/racist?

Cabbage Rock, anyone?

There you go, again.

September 8 2009, 9:44 PM

You are once again using Mr Nibbler's nationality in an abusive way. This is the 21st century, you know. Most people have learned to get on with other nationalities. I reiterate: you are clearly xenophobic. I suspect you are racist.

Krautrock might well use the 'kraut' prefix, which was considered a derogatory term during the Second World War, but the word seems to have been accepted worlwide as a label for the sort of music made by Neu, Kraftwerk and co - Germany included. There is no derogatory intent and krautrock is used with reverence and respect by all who appreciate the music.

Your point has no validity.

I don't think there's anyone on the planet (except for you, you moron) who still regards "Krautrock" as being offensive or racist. That includes David Bowie.

From here:

Uncut Interviews David Bowie on Berlin

UNCUT: Were there any meetings or planned collaborations with other 'Krautrock' bands like Cluster, Neu! or Tangerine Dream?

db: Not at all. I knew Edgar Froesse and his wife socially but I never met the others as I had no real inclination to go to Dusseldorf as I was very single minded about what I needed to do in the studio in Berlin.

db: I took it upon myself to introduce Eno to the Dusseldorf sound with which he was very taken, Connie Plank et al (also to Devo btw who in turn had been introduced to me by Iggy) and Brian eventually made it up there to record with some of them.

I don't see Bowie reacting badly to the use of the term there, do you?

So if Bowie thinks it's OK, but you don't, then maybe it's time you finally waved us bye bye and meant it...this time.

Nope. I've read your post a few times and I can't for the life of me see Bowie mentioning 'krautrock' which incidentally WAS mentioned by the journalist.

I do however, see Bowie referring to it as 'Dusseldorf sound'.

Re: Evasion.

September 8 2009, 10:51 PM

Ask your pal Nibbler to trawl through the archives, you'll see that I've already given my opinion on David Irving.

As for 'evasion', where did you get that from? My reply about 'Dusseldorf sound' is perfectly clear.

There's a Q magazine interview from 1999 where the journalist says that Bowie is probably the most agreeable rock star that he's ever interviewed, (I think he only disagrees once), so it's unlikely that Bowie would argue with a journalist over the word 'Krautrock'. He does however evade it by calling it the 'Dusseldorf sound' instead.

In actual fact, off the top off my head, I can't ever recall Bowie (nor Eno)using the word 'Krautrock' anywhere.

For people not stuck in the 70s, the term is 'Motorik', which Bowie has often used.

Just ask Neu!!

Mist.

People on this board, as do people in general, often overlook racism and are polite in response to it. We can't presume Bowie's acceptance of a term because he fails to throw a wobbly. It's a bad example, and he does seem purposely to use an alternative.

You're right though, it's obviously not derogatory.
