last wednesday ,when i was at work ,i spotted that someone had left a copy of the local paper, the Derby Evening Telegraph lying around on the bench,so i thought, ill have a look at that later when i get the time,,so around 2.30am when on a cuppa break,i got out the paper and started to have a look through it.when i came across a photo in the Bygones Section,a section about bygone days in the region,,and i couldnt believe my eyes when i spotted myself in the picture, the picture was of the queue of people who had queued up all night waiting for live aid tickets to go on sale...i was well chuffed,i didnt even know the picture existed..
im the guy at the back peering over the guys shoulder ...awesome stuff

If id been asked to date that picture, lookin at those blokes, id have said 1979 !!!
That just doesnt conjur up pictures of 1985
Sadly, in those days, just about everywhere North of Watford was at least 6 years behind the times.
I can remember around 1979 being in the centre of my old town, Middlesbrough, and seeing people wearing baggie trousers and platforms (which you could still buy in the shops) a-la 1973 and older women walking round with beehive hairdos like they'd had since 1963. Some people just find a good thing and stick with it.
Of course this wasn't everyone in the town, which had its hipsters (like moi).

Wonderful! But it reminds me why rock festivals were a drag...if I wanted to get sunburned, wave my arms around with 100,000 sweaty drunks and line up for an hour to pee, I'd have been reborn as an ant.

True enough, dear - it's down to experience. I went to a gig at the L.A. Coliseum - I recollect Keith Moon was the MC, dressed in a sequined sheath and a blonde wig - I chanced to leave about five minutes before they started arresting people. My husband told me how he traded his red pants for admission to the Us festival in 1982 - Mr. Bowie played the one they held in '83 - and he seemed to have a splendid time.
