| There have been 65 Premier League matches this season, but only 4 of those matches resulted in a draw (about 6%).
Compare that to the Championship: 106 games played - 36 draws (just over 33%). Hmm..!
Any theories why?
Perhaps it's just because of emphasis on more attacking football in the top flight this season combined with a less even distribution of resources than in the lower leagues.
E.G. Man City, Liverpool, Man U, Chelsea, Spurs & Arsenal, etc can all blow the lower premiership teams' finances out of the water, so the top of the table is comfortably beating the bottom of the table, thus less matches finishing with a draw. Whilst in the Championship, their finances / resources are more evenly balanced so they are much more likely to achieve draws in their matches. |

The top teams in the Premiership are very evenly matched and the gulf is widening between them and the next level of teams.
My team, Newcastle, was relegated last year. A disaster but the result is we are now winning matches again with apparent ease as the gulf, currently in the championship between ourselves and the rest is quite large in terms of quality.
The problem lies after hopefully getting promotion next year. We will be in amongst the rest and it will be a dog fight to survive. We could become the next WBA (no disrespect) in that we are too good for the Championship and possibly not good enough for the Premiership without spending money which our a%*ehole of a chairman will not do hence the relegation. |
