One of the books on Bowie claimed - at least half convincingly - that the song Heroes was partly a paean to The Velvet Underground's 'Heroin', on the basis that Heroes uses the same two chords used in 'Heroin' and the closeness of the song title.
Possibly so.
However while 'Neu!' have been mentioned as an influence on Bowie, on the Krautrock programme on BBC3 (or BBC4) last night, the Neu! guitarist mentioned how Bowie said how much he loved the first and third track from 'Neu! 75' and the first one was 'Hero', and the guy said I wondered where Bowie got the song title 'Heroes' from (or word to that effect!).
So there you go.
Also Iggy was featured, waxing lyrical about the beauty of Neu!'s music, and also talking excited about Kraftwerk's 'Radioactivity', and mentioning how one of the Kraftwerk leaders once took him to the market for asparagus shopping
