DB looks happier and healthier than he's looked in ages.
It's really good to see that big old cheesy grin back - it's been a long time since we've seen that.
Here's hoping that he's back to full strength and ready to dazzle us with something musical again.
Cheers,
Richard

Well obviously I'm not expecting an album of course, but I'm saying that I can see him recording again if he feels like because he's looking right again.

I do understand why.
It's because it has been such a long time he has been (reported of) going to a concert, plus it is the first official Bowie email on Bnet for quite some time.
Hence this makes people extatic with joy and expectations.
It did with me too, but I came down to the ground quite fast afterwards.
It ain't gonna happen.

Day 5, Woke up at 4am and pottered about, even New York is quiet at that time, anyway The Iridium gig was probably one of the most surreal gigs of my life, not only did we back Jeff Beck but also Brian Setzer and Gary U.S Bonds, we did a cracking set which will be released on DVD later this year, The whole thing for me was overshadowed by the presence of David Bowie sitting in front of me the whole Gig, met him after and he was tres cool, we had a conversation about nervous norvus!? I told you it was surreal, Its completely made my trip! no pics of that though but it was being photographed by the "Rolling Stone" people - Ooh get you!
Here is a nice pic of our nice Gibson gig buses to keep you going, I'm taking my bloody Camera tomorrow!

Nervous Norvus
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaJump to:navigation, search
For other persons named Jim Drake, see Jim Drake
Nervous Norvus was the performing name of Jimmy Drake (1912 in the Oakwood district of Los Angeles, California July 24, 1968). His novelty song "Transfusion" was a major hit in 1956, as was a second song, "Ape Call," released later that year.
The lyrics in his song called "Transfusion" concern careless drivers who (cheerfully) receive blood transfusions after each accident. Graphic sounds of a car crash are included after each verse. Each stanza concludes with the refrain "Never never never gonna speed again" followed by lines such as "Slip the blood to me, Bud" or "Pour the crimson in me, Jimson." The song was banned on many radio stations of the '50s. The song was later played on the radio by DJ Barry Hansen, which reportedly led to Hansen's eventual nickname of Dr. Demento. A car crash sound effect from this song can be heard on "Dead Man's Curve" by Jan and Dean.
The song received a review from an unlikely source personal-injury lawyer Melvin Belli in his 1956 book Ready for the Plaintiff!, in which he says: "The ghoulish lyrics hiccup hysterically" but "wind up with a gem of jive-y wisdom that is strictly in the groove: 'Oh, barnyard drivers are found in two classes / Line-crowding hogs and speeding jackasses / So remember to slow down today!'" There was irony too, as Drake was employed as a truck driver, prior to his recording fame arising.
Nervous Norvus was born before World War I started, and was over 40 by the time he had his two hit singles in 1956. His records were made with input from radio personality Red Blanchard, to whom he was sending demos in the hope of finding an artist to record them. Blanchard had been an influence, particularly with the "jive" language employed in the lyrics.
After his brief time of glory, which amounted to less than six months, he concentrated on his demo service, providing music for other people's songs. He would charge around seven dollars to make these demos, some of which led to publishing contracts for the songwriters.
Contrary to popular belief, Drake was never a member of The Four Jokers, who also recorded "Transfusion" (with a group harmony vocal sound) on the Diamond record label in 1956. He was very shy and even turned down a chance to perform "Transfusion" on the Ed Sullivan Show. After a final single on the Dot record label ("The Fang" b/w "Bullfrog Hop"), the artist had his contract dropped. He only recorded sporadically thereafter for a series of independent labels like Embee ("Stoneage Woo" b/w "I Like Girls") and Big Ben, up to 1960. Nervous Norvus died in 1968 of cirrhosis of the liver, aged 56. A CD including hits and rare tracks, Stone Age Woo, was released by Norton Records in 2004. "Transfusion" also appears on Kenny Everetts' "The World's Worst record Show" (K-Tel label 1978).

He`s obviously gotten Becks permission to use the footage of him at Ziggys last show, for the blu-ray re-re-re-re-re-release ...... Harvey Goldsmith has tied him down to a thorough British Tour including matinee`s, and the final picture, Bowie has asked Paul Young to do backin vocals on the forthcoming album.
A fruitful night out for Jonesy !!!!

I think I know what's going on here...
...Mr. Bowie has somehow gained the ability to suck the life force out of his fellow musicians. Perhaps that's why he was laying low previous to tonight.
Get Mr. Setzer away from him!
I was thinking the same thing, re getting Jeff's agreement re The Jean Genie?
After all, a lot of the catalogue is now, finally being put right, eventually, now he's as good as retired from recording new work.
So, stranger things have happened...

The next EMI Expanded Editions:
* What are your hopes for these releases?
* Let's have The Man Who Sold The World with the complete Paris Cinema Studios, Feb 5, 1970 radio concert, and the complete April 1970 radio session. Hunky Dory - add the complete Paris Cinema Studios concert, June 1971 in stereo, from the BBC Stereo Transcription LP if the master is lost!
Yes that looks like Paul Young in the last pic...he gets knocked but I think he did some great songs when he chose the right material, and amazing voice.

Fantastic pics. 96dbWife and I had front-row seats to see the lovely Imelda May and her (husband's) band (who we're looking at here) back at Easter. Hopefully Dave got to see them perform, they're terrific.
A quote from 1991-1993 paraphrased (as I don't have it in front of me):
INTERVIEWER:
In the future, who might you like to work with for which you have not done so already?
DAVID BOWIE:
In the future ... Jeff Beck.
...which was the one and only musician he mentioned. And of course on another occasion:
DAVID BOWIE:
Mick Ronson was my Jeff Beck.
OK, so if ANYONE can get the Bowie out of retirement, then Jeff Beck is our man. Let's hope they secured plans to work together before parting ways on Tuesday night ... or better yet, they laid down a few tracks before morning.

And if they did it with Imelda's band, with whom Jeff performed at the Grammys, so much the better. I've always thought Bowie would make a great rockabilly artiste.

That's cruel. I will be dreaming of this for weeks ahead.

This is the first time in about 4 years that we've seen Mr. Bowie grinning and bigface while outnabout. The photo from a few days ago was a closeup. This is also a first in years that a closeup was allowed. YES, for a REAL FAN, this gives us hope for new material. If he feels good and at himself, it stands to reason that he will do what comes natural. Create
I've been a ney sayer this past year. Not getting my hopes up and enjoying the back catelog and discovering. I think I can come to expect something from him. I don't think he would let those photos out if he wasn't signaling a return to the norm. That closeup did it for me.

Great thinking, I agree.
I mean, why else would David just randomly decide to (ask Blammo to) update his site with a report from a gig,Plus the photos.I'm sure he's been to many and he certainly doesn't do it for them.
