Iggy made a set of demos, which are very, very good, and Bowie heard them, that's why he got involved with Blah Blah Blah and tried to do the same with Never Let Me Down, but it didn't really work out. It was Iggys time.

a lot of the music and backing is unmistakably Bowie - esque

If you hear the 12" extended version of 'Cry For Love', Bowie's all over it, you can't miss him. It's an Iggy song, but Bowies backing vocals are pretty good on it.

Yep, that'll be the one that I used for the demo version. Look for 'A Family Affair' by Iggy on Youtube. It's great video and it's one of the demos that Bowie heard.
