Earthbound

This warm organic life
Of blood and mud and sea
Inspired by the air above
Forms the whole of me

My mind like supple clay
Firmly pressed and squeezed
Betrays in the light of day
Thoughts the night conceived

A mysterious arrangement
Of shadow, bone and breath
Goaded my estrangement
With yearnings of the flesh

In the grip of gravity
At the wind's behest
I rode the waves of violent tides
To grim abysmal depths

For the dreadful clarity
A hermit can't resist
When pining for eternity's
Sweet but deadly kiss
