Heard a rumour from a collector friend that there is an unreleased Jems in the offing from 1972. This was the one he mentioned, Detroit 08.10.1972 Detroit Fisher Theater.

Has anyone else heard anything about this coming to light very very soon?

http://www.utorrent.com/downloads/mac

Just install it, go to a torrent site, download the thing which says 'download torrent' to your Mac, then click on it. uTorrent will automatically start downloading without you having to do anything. It's really that easy.

Hi,try this one for a start.

If you're going to put stuff onto an ipod you'll need to convert the flacs to mp3's.

That's what I do though that's seen as sacrilege by some due to the apparent loss in sound quality. If all else fails I'll let you know what I do and how I do it but I'm not an authority.

yes i steer clear of flac files and torrents
i just stick to mp3 with zip or rar files it does me although there will be more choices with torrents.
cant get to grips with flac at all probably as i dont know how to convert them to mp3, now i know why i have trouble.

Admitting your ignorance is the first step to overcoming it.

There was an interview from around '99, where Bowie admitted to knowing the limits of his intelligence & how stupid he was. Takes a genius to do that!

"Google will give you 10,000 answers ... a Librarian will give you the right answer" same goes for BWW ... just learned to torrent today ... and i know a lot of you guys have been doing it for a long time and therefore would know the right answer. It seems very easy ... i think i was put off years ago when i tried it with a crap PC and a slow connection. Now i have a MacBook and a speedy connection and it's so simple ... my first move was to get the entire works of Brian Eno in 5 mins ... have a lot of time off next week ... i am going to be very busy.

"That's what I do though that's seen as sacrilege by some due to the apparent loss in sound quality. "

It's only frowned upon if you, or others, then subsequently use a lossless recording to recreate an audio file (wav, flac etc) and then pretend it's an earlier generation recording. If you want to take a lossy recording and rip it to mp3 that's your call. If you want to listen on your iPod, why not? I have to admit, I have little time these days to listen to much at home, it's mostly on the move. In such circumstances sound quality (IMHO) doesn't need to be that good.

@ Bowiecollecter

Do you know the date of the Detroit 73 show that JEMS recorded?

Bowie performed 2 shows in Detroit at the Masonic Temple in '73: March 1 and 2. The first show is already available as American Daydream.
So, I hope it's the March 2 '73.

I never heard of Bowie playing either Fisher or Masonic. They are small venues.

Thanks for your reply, BowieCollector.

Does Jems have a 'release date' in mind for the march 1 1973 master recording?

JEMS do not have a release date for the Detroit 1973 recording. The guy who uploads the JEMS masters on Dime does not have the actual cassette at the moment. I don't see this recording uploaded on Dime (or somewhere else) in near future to be honest.

There is a master recording of this concert available among a very small group of collectors though.

Is the 'American Daydream' recording from the the same source tape (but different generation) as the Jems master?
