I'm not convinced about the authenticity -- there is some pixelation around the right side of his head that stands out, as well as along the inner thigh. And the proportion is a bit off.

Looks like a passable Photoshopping/Illustrator effort.

Even if a fake, it isn't a 'bad' fake. Just a couple of minor things raise red flags for me. happy.gif

I love April Fool's graphics manipulations. I've viewed practically everything I've read online today with a healthy dose of suspicion grin

What's weird is that I have the contact sheet, and it's very similar indeed to one on there - frame 6. I think this is the same frame as 5years, but it's not cropped. But this has to come from another roll, as that pose isn't on there even if it's been cropped out and moved - maybe Brian Ward did a 35mm backup?

It has been said before, but it still amazes me that the album photo is the first one on the roll. That's rock'n'roll....

This picture is from Bowienet news page 24-2-12 and was an animated gif for the Heddon Street plaque.

you could be right.

Did he not have a head in the original pic?

Seriously tho, his neck looks quite long - he's turning into "The Thing", an early guise that didn't pan out.

I've just checked - Bowie was a bit of a sci-buff back then - "The Thing" was based on "Who Goes There?" is a science fiction novella by John W. Campbell, Jr., written under the pen name Don A. Stuart, and first published in the August 1938 Astounding Science-Fiction.

Given "The Thing" turned into a human spider at one point, the connection is obvious.

The next EMI Expanded Editions:
* What are your hopes for these releases?
* Let's have The Man Who Sold The World with the complete Paris Cinema Studios, Feb 5, 1970 radio concert, and the complete April 1970 radio session. Hunky Dory - add the complete Paris Cinema Studios concert, June 1971 in stereo, from the BBC Stereo Transcription LP if the master is lost!
* Any future live 1974 release MUST include a recording of Drive In Saturday from the early part of the tour, it's classic!
The next DVD release?
