bowie undoubtedly, aladdin sane was the first album i really listened to, i stole it from my mum, the image came first the music after.
plus a couple of singles laughing gnome and rebel rebel i played to death.
my dad tells me i used to go mad for the sweet's coco i can't remember this too well.
boys keep swinging was the first single i bought for myself.
then dj and i never looked back.
changesone and hunky were next as xmas prezzie must have been xmas 79.
xmas 1980 i got scary monsters, that was it i was hooked.

i also have fond memories for some of these you mention
the jam, blondie, olivers army and the diary of horace wimp by elo, it was definitely 1979 the year for me when i got heavily into music and starting buying my own, the police were another, message in a bottle, and squeeze cool for cats on pink vinyl.
great days when music was cool.

My first and only true musical love is Bowie.

The first single I bought was Love Is Life by Hot Chocolate
The first album I bought was Aladdin Sane
The first CD I bought was Invisible Touch by Genesis, Crime of the Century by Supertramp and The Whole Story by Kate Bush (bought as a job lot from Britannia Music catalogue)

while grown up in the 70`s it was Blondie etc i was hearing
as i shared a room with my sisters. So no choice really.
As i got older (a teen) i began to understand who Bowie was as there was a "K tell best of Bowie" in the room.
From that day on i played it non stop. it was the first of many bowie albums.
And iv`e been a fan ever since.
both my sisters turned to the dark side and never got into Bowie.
Eliza.
