Seriously? This lot? Taking the piss yeah?

I flicked through Rolling Stone mag's 500 greatest LP's copy the other day. How does Bob Dylan's Modern Times from 2004 make the cut? Bugger all Bowie in the list...maybe 5 albums?

I read one these mags a couple of years ago that had a '100 greatest icons' feature. Can't remember which it was but probably NME or Uncut, one of those types anyway.
#1 was Cobain.Big double pager about his importance and why he was the greatest.
It was quite a decent list up until that point.

I didn't know who Alex Turner was until I just looked him up.Ultimate icon, hahaha.
This is a public vote though, and not NME's opinion, and net networking comes into play, else where's Elvis?
There were a few glaring ommisions on the original list though.
Took me a good while pondering whether to vote Bowie or Rotten.

Alex Turner

Well you've got to consider the demographics of who actually buys or reads the NME. It's mcuh younger people than your average Bowie fan so they are entitled to have their icons even if we don't know them.

By the way, for some reason, it allows you to vote as many times as you want.

And besides, Bowie is the most covered of all those artistes, by the the other Quarter Finalists (Kurt, Mozzer, Alex, Liam). Lennon did Fame with DB, and Amy may well have done something, so that is praise indeed!

My Top 10 - very tricky though

1. Kelly Marie
2. Chicory Tip
3. Millican and Nesbitt
4. Five Star
5. Steps
6. Robson and Jerome
7. Jive Bunny
8. Betty Boo
9. Nana Mouskouri
10. The Wombles

Sadly no room for the Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band or Peter Andre.
