Just in from the BBC news website:

Bowie has apparently released a statement stating that Prince Charles should "step down gracefully" and let William succeed to the Throne after the Queen. According to the BBC royal correspondent Bowie has said: "I honestly think Prince Charles should step down gracefully now and let his son William succeed. We live in a different age now and William is perfectly suited to fit in with that age, it's aspirations and ideals. Besides, no one wants to see a loopy older fucker who talks to plants succeed. I mean, just what the fuck is that Charles guy all about? Well??"

He is probably right tbh.

I mean technically according to the so called rules of ascendancy, how can Charles rightfully be king? He married a divorcee.

db needs to be careful expressing views on the Royals, he might get accused of being a royalist. wink.gif

What is he up to?

Suddenly expressing views on things?

He does know how to pull strings and cause a splash.

He has the media worked out. They cant control him.

Genius man.

Though I can imagine a 90s 'ordinary bloke' Bowie sitting back with a fag in his hand and a smile on his face saying that to an interviewer for a gag.

Hasten to add, though, the Irvine Welsh twitter quotes (on another thread) ARE true. In fact, it's been interesting to read the twitter reaction amongst the Scottish artistic community to Bowie's quote. From what I've read most have been along the lines of Welsh; namely, Bowie's entitled to his opinion whether I agree or disagree.

Fact is, it won't effect the outcome either way. Why should it?

Bowie has also asked Ena Sharples to "step down" from this message board.

That sounds out of character on a number of levels. Besides, Prince Charles is still up to it.

"Schtum!"
