Just in from the BBC news website:
Bowie has apparently released a statement stating that Prince Charles should "step down gracefully" and let William succeed to the Throne after the Queen. According to the BBC royal correspondent Bowie has said: "I honestly think Prince Charles should step down gracefully now and let his son William succeed. We live in a different age now and William is perfectly suited to fit in with that age, it's aspirations and ideals. Besides, no one wants to see a loopy older fucker who talks to plants succeed. I mean, just what the fuck is that Charles guy all about? Well??"

Hasten to add, though, the Irvine Welsh twitter quotes (on another thread) ARE true. In fact, it's been interesting to read the twitter reaction amongst the Scottish artistic community to Bowie's quote. From what I've read most have been along the lines of Welsh; namely, Bowie's entitled to his opinion whether I agree or disagree.
Fact is, it won't effect the outcome either way. Why should it?
