The thing is, we don't know for sure if there will be other sets. Wasn't the point of these sets to round up all the official RCA stuff? If that's the case, then we very well may not get sets covering post-Scary Monsters.

Regarding Christaine F. (or however it's spelled), I doubt they'll put the soundtrack in the set; probably just the few unique edits that are on it, which would go on Re:Call 3.

Obviously this means no demos, and I highly doubt we'll get the 1979 version of Panic in Detroit, as it wasn't released at that time (much like how we didn't get "Sweet Head" in the first box, as it wasn't an official release until many years later).

This set will go no later than the Baal EP at most

Parlophone Records are proud to announce DAVID BOWIE FIVE YEARS 1969 – 1973, the first in a series of box sets spanning his career.

So 'spanning his career' was stated in june 2015 at first box announcement.

There's nothing in them we haven't got.

I'd love Perth 78.

Box Set 3:-
Low
Heroes
Lodger
+ Lodger TV "Remix / Remaster"
Scary Monsters
Stage
Live Recording from Perth
Re:Call 3

...which would be ten discs

Re:Call 3 will have the edits (some of which, would be nice to finally have in higher quality - like the extended mixes of "Breaking Glass" and "Beauty and the Beast")

I doubt that Christianne F will be on it, as so much of it will already be in the box set

"Obviously this means no demos, and I highly doubt we'll get the 1979 version of Panic in Detroit, as it wasn't released at that time"

well it was on the Ryko SM along with the Kenny Everett Space Oddity version from the same session. No doubt those as well as Crystal Japan and Moon of Alabama will be on there if SM is. Actually it would be quite fitting to end it with the Kenny Everett Space Oddity version.

"Velvet Goldmine" was officially released as a b-side; since it was recorded during the Ziggy era, it made more sense to include it in the first box.

"Panic in Detroit 1979" was on the Ryko SM, but not officially before then, just like "Sweet Head", which we did not get on the first box. Unless they decide to make an exception or exclusive, it won't be included

John I'm Only Dancing Again wasn't released at the time either but was included on the second boxset. Twice.

Neither was The Grouster, or Nassau 76. Or David Live 2005. Or Harry Maslin's 2010 STS mix.

I agree the vocals are too affectatious.

John I'm Only Dancing again was a b side to a single in the 1970's. I had it. Can't remember which single it was but I certainly had it.

Throughout his career, Bowie made sure that good tracks that didn't make it onto albums for whatever reason were put out on singles. Velvet Goldmine has already been mentioned in this thread. Same with Holy Holy.

Yeah but we're talking about release within the timeframe of the box.

I think we concluded last time around they just bend the rules to suit themselves, which is frustrating, but you know... fine really. It's only a problem because it keeps us guessing happy.gif

I do feel for those who would've associated Holy Holy as a DD era track having got it on the single and added to the end of their homemade DD cassette back in the day. Likewise VG which many people would have fond memories of 1975. Would've helped adding them to Re:call 1 in chronological order.

I'd hope that the tracks held back (mainly the Ryko bonus cuts that haven't featured so far, the 40th anniversary b sides etc) will be form the basis of a rarities box, or added to next deluxe reissues of the appropriate albums. I guess expanded versions of the albums is the best bet because straight reissues probably won't sell too good without added incentives.

My idea for the boxset:

-Low (2017 Mix)
-"Heroes" (2017 Mix)
-Stage (2005/2017 Mix)
-Stage (1991/2017 Mix)
-Lodger (2017 Mix)
-Scary Monsters (2017 Mix)
-Baal (2017 Mix)

Re:call 3
-Some Are
-All Saints
-Sound and Vision (1991 Remix)
-Abdulmajid
-Joe the Lion (1991 Remix)
-"Helden" (1989 Remix)
-Look Back in Anger (1988 Version)
-Space Oddity (Re-recording)
-Panic in Detroit (Re-recording)
-Crystal Japan
-Alabama Song
-Under Pressure
-Peace on Earth (Little Drummer Boy)

Not expecting any new content unless they do Perth 1978, or an official version of the Live in Bremen/Transmission boot.

I think biros list looks good.
I'd just add to that the baal ep.
I hope it's a standalone ep rather than tagged on to recall.

Perth would be great.

low
heroes
lodger
scary monsters
lodger remix
stage original
stage 2005 remix
Perth
baal ep
recall 3
