Why does the City of Portage allow the Noise requirements to be violated? Every rink is Winnipeg and surrounding areas has banned the horns, sirens, etc due to the high level of noise decibals. It is a Safety Issue. Is portage that far behind the times?

Seriously?? May I suggest you take a trip to any arena outside of Winnipeg? You'll find the same horns in Selkirk, Dauphin, OCN, etc. It's not the Winnipeg has banned it, it's that the 100 fans that show up for the games just don't care enough.

Obviously you haven't attended a game in OCN where they have the train whistle. Maybe you should get out past the perimeter and see (and hear) the rest of the world. Swan used to have a horn right behind the opposing bench too I think.

Long horns and can noise makers should be banned,,, period. Last thing one needs is some A$$ Hole blowing horns in your ears. Won't be long before someone will sue the arena owners for ear damage.

Great atmosphere. Bring your ear plugs if you don't like the noise.

Selkirk will only have two home games left this year to ban noise anyway.

Well maybe there should be a little common courtesy amongst fans when it comes to bringing air horns. If you have an air horn maybe you should sit in the front row against the glass so that others aren't having horns blown into their ears.

the City of Portage does have a noise by-law which is being violated by the excessive use and noise of the horns. It is By law no 7105. I would call the Arena Mgr, director of economic development and cao - Mr Lyle. to voice your concerns... I used to live near the rink and expressed my concern with the goings on at the games I am no longer a season ticket holder. I have young children and will not expose them to the ignorance, selfishness of some of the people that attend these games regualary and feel that it is their right to subject other members of the public to the inappropriate behaviour.
