Looks like Selkirk is now into the coaching derby too, as word around the rec complex at the Telus Cup has Keith Cassidy going into the WHL as an assistant next season, someone said it's an American team.

Anyone know who or where?

Going to Steinbach as a head coach. True ability will show. Too bad he ran Sook and Willy out of town before he left.

Smook and Willy....come on, give it a break already. Those guys are soft. Selkirk had too many talented little forwards and those two were certainly expendable

Smook & Willy would have made the differance against Portage, they can at least put up points on the board. Winkler wanted Schapert or Willy and Selkirk gave up Willy as we could of had Willy all year we didn't have Schapert. Selkirk knows they made a bad trade with Smook and won't admit it.

Talented little forwards that did not out in the effort needed. Smook was one of the hardeest workers and Wilgosh is not little. Could have used them over Alexiuk and Goertzen. Schappert was a mess. They should try to get something for him in the off-season. He does not play for the team.

Exactly...Cassidy made a huge mistake trading Smokey and Wilgosh, he showed how horrible of a coach he is. They are both talanted players and the Steel would have done much better with them to finish off the season with. Smokey works hard every shift on the ice. Hopefully Cassidy stays far away from these two...obviously he can't see what is right in front of him. You need point scorers to win the game you idoit!

WHL ??

April 23 2009, 5:45 PM

In my opinion, to use business management terms, I thought Cassidy had already risen to the level of his incompetence, but, I guess not. American team ?? My guess is the Portland Winter Hawks. Should be a good fit...

Who do you suppose they'd hire? What about bringing back Stokes, or Goodbrandson. I actually like Neil Wilkinson alot. I think he would do well within a good organization like Selkirk.

Is Cassidy taking Gingera with him and put him on the top line?

Cassidy will be back in Selkirk and they will be 4th or 5th in the division next year.

That is about right

May 2 2009, 2:46 PM

What with the Blues acting as a farm team for Portage my guess is Portage first. Since the Blues cannot get their act together they want to make sure the Saints don't advance. The city - city team comparison is inevitable and they want to avoid the Saints having any success.

I bet it will be a long time before the Saints give the Blues any players after this year. Selkirk had a good run, but now that the 20's are gone ... . Saints lost players too, but they seem to be standing pat for next year without even a spring camp. They must have their eventual roster almost set.

Portage and Saints in finals agin next year? Guess who chokes?

Figure it out

May 3 2009, 11:45 AM

Saints aren't even having a spring camp. Do they seem nervous to you?
They drew already and are obviously standing pat. They lose offense, but some of the D that
they could have done without are also moving on.

Portage will beat the bushes and the Saints will walk the streets until both clubs get what they need.Blues will again act as feeder system for a real team.

Saints/Portage final, unless Selkirk plays spoiler again.

But they have nothing coming back except soft forwards and marginal defencemen. I liked the team more at this point last year than now. Adding another Schappert won't help. At least our last set of twins could play. This set is useless and disruptive.
